Question beginner mods -pros what do you think?

Well I've been doing a lot of reading on LS1 tech and decided to keep my performance mods as simple as possible to avoid hassles. That means I'm staying away from headers and heads. I'm still middle of the road with a cam. One thing for sure, is that im not a fan of the thumpy, lumpy, sounds like drums or playing idle of cammed cars. The online videos of cammed cars are not appealing to me at all. Maybe the uploaded videos were before tuning. Maybe I need to here cammed f-body in person. I'm probably the only one that feels that way.

I'm currently driving a 2003 ws9 pontiac TransAm A4 with 75,XXX miles on it.

Here are the mods that I will do over the summer.

Engine (mild mod)
1.PTP 78mm Ls1 Throttle body $150 5-10hp
2.ASP 1998-02 LS1 25% Harmonic Dampner Crank, 15% Alt. Pulley Kit $230 12-15hp ASP948584
3.GMMG Chambered Exhaust System $700.00 10-15hp
4.SLP LID $100 10-15hp
5. ??? Maybe SLP 1.85 RRs $625 8-12hp or maybe a mild cam worth 30hp-45hp

Drivetrain
nothing

Chassis

17x9.5 275/40/17, 17x11 315/35/17 zr1 rims from tomzwheel (still can't decide between black & chrome)

Along with 1,3,5 the idea of procharging @ 7psi is floating around in my head because my goal is a 450rwhp/rwtq daily driver.

Will the ASP pulley(2) be ok with a ATI kit or is it a waste of money?

Will dual/dual tips fit on a GMMG exhaust?

The pulley will not work with a blower.

There are plenty of reasonable cams out there, that idle like or close to stock, with similar driving characteristics. Heads are not that much work, they just require periodic maintenance in the form of spring changes...not that bad really-no more so than replacing the oil in a Vortech blower every 5-6K.

Lol, you want simple, so youre staying away from headers....but you are willing to put in a cam or supercharge it......riiiiiiight.

I wouldnt waste my money on the roller rockers.
You should buy headers, they arent a hassle, im not sure you think they are.

If you want a 450hp daily driver without a lumpy cam or heads youre either gonna have to get nitrous which i assume you dont wanna do, or get a supercharger or turbo.

There are plenty of cams out there without a choppy idle. just keep it under 224, and keep the lsa 113 or higher...and you'll be fine

Agreed, putting headers in is alot easier than a cam swap. Mods are researched to death and are common knowledge of what works and what doesnt:
Lid or FIPK
Long tube headers
ORY
Ported stock TB
LS6 intake(if its not a 01 and up)
Tune.....even if its bone stock get a tune
Catback or cutout on the stocker

#2 is about pointless IMO, and don't cam it without full exhaust. Yes that means headers. You are all over the place in your modding too, for all that is good get a plan and stick to it, as in... air flow - do everything to improve it, then move on etc., get the idea? Don't do a pulley one week and a strut tower brace the next...

Ditch the ricer math, read the stickies, check the year of your car, then ask again. Bolt-ons and a stall first on an A4 car.

lid, ported tb, full exaust (headers and td's or ory and catback), 3600 vig stall, then sfc panhard, lca's and torque arm all in one shot ohh and some bfg dr's.. with that you should be in the 12.4 to 12.6 area.. if you need more throw on a 150 shot for an 11sec stock internal car..

I think he needs help on more than mods if he drives an 03 trans am. How are headers not a simple mod? That's a basic mod for f-bodies.

I finished the video. The goat sounded nice until he rev it, after that it sounded like the car was about to die.

OK.....dont expect to be "evil fast" and sound stock, all the way down the track.Set goals and be realistic.....I for one,am getting my 9" axle soon. Why?because my goal is to run 12.1-11.9 on motor and top it with a shot of juice. All that reliably and without as many headaches that come with, weak drivetrain components. What is your ideal sound on a car,BTW?
