Oil change light comes on then goes off Need help
Just wanted to see if i could get some help on this. My oil change light stays on when my car is cranked up and then a little bit after it is put in drive it goes off. Just bought the car over the weekend at the oil was supposedly changed not too long ago. I am planning on changing the oil today but i was wondering if anybody might know why it is doing this? Its a 2000 Z and it has 27,000 miles on it. Any help would be great. Thanks

Just reset the light by turning the key to the "ON" position and pressing the Trip Reset/Oil Reset button for 13 seconds. that should take care of the problem. This information is in the owner's manual.

Already tried that. Thats the first thing i did. It goes off then, but after you turn the car off and then back on the light comes on again. Like i said, it doesnt stay on permanently, it goes off after i drive for a few seconds. Thanks for the help though

Nope the trip odometer doesnt reset every time. I tried it again and now it has gone off and hasnt come back on. Seemed kind of odd to me. I have owned a camaro before and it always went off and stayed off. THis just threw me for a loop when it came right back on after i reset it. For now though its off. Thanks for all the help. Hopefully it is fixed.

one other way to try it is to turn the key on (engine off) and press the gas pedal all the way to the floor 3 times, and make sure you let the pedal all the way up between the times that you press it.
after you do that wait for a couple seconds for the the oil light to flash, if it does go ahead and turn the key off.
