Hey guys I am considering buying a C5 Z06, C5 Targa top, C6 Targa top, or TransAm.

I want to get some pros and cons from you guys.

The way I look at it the C5 Z06 seems like the best car for me to buy because its built for racing and is not that expensive anymore maybe 25K.

I was considering getting a regular C5 and putting parts on it. What are the big differences between the Z06 and regular C5?

I'm also considering the TransAm because it does have the same engine and it seems like the parts are a lot cheaper for the it and you can get them for considerably less. Does the lack of weight of the Corvette make it a lot faster then the TransAm? What is the weight difference?

I am looking at getting a car to Drag, Road, and Street Race so I need the most balanced car that will be the fastest for under 35K. Thanx for your imput guys.

 

I Would Personally Go With The C6...

 

Go with a TA, you can find them for cheap and they are cheaper to mod too. There are plenty in the For sale section making some pretty nasty numbers. Just my .02

 

This is what I am wondering also If you have a Bolt on TransAm and a Bolt on C5 racing from a roll equal mods how much more will the Corvette win? From a 50-140 Roll Equal drivers???

 

I dont even understand why your cross shopping a Trans Am and a Corvette. The C5 Z06 is light years better than an Fbody.
On a dragstrip or roadcourse a C5 Z06 will leave a T/A in the dust, and a C6 Z51 will be nipping at the heels of the C5.
If you want a rougher track car go for the C5 Z06, if you want better quality get a C6 Z51.

 

I would get the middle man of all three of those..

a C5 Z06.

It's a fine middle place of all three of the cars you are interested in.

i think a c5 Z06 would be the best choice here

 

C5 is faster than the c5 z06 but the zo6 out performs it in everything else except top end. the c6 is faster than the c5 zo6 or they are about even. Trans am is good

i love the trans am... but both c5 and c6 walks all over it in avery way, if i had the money i would own a c5 Z06, c6 is just still to expensive for me at least

 

What do you guys think has more potential the C5 Z06 or the C6. I am looking at making a custom Turbo or TT setup in my garage so I am going to be going with FI for sure. Which of the two do you guys think would make the best road racing car? I don't care about ride comfort seeing that it's not going to be my dd.

Best road racer is probably going to be the C5 Z06. But I cant imagine road racing with a high power TT setup, your going to need a lot of suspension mods to balance the car out with that much more power.

 

C5ZO6s are fantastic cars and I would love to own one.
The C6 is just as amazing really.
Save some money and get the Z06 or spend the extra dough and get the C6.
Either way,if I had the cash on hand to get a vette,I wouldnt consider the Fbody.

 

Best drag get an fbody. Heads/cam NOS D60, radials for like 20k lol.

 

Have you considered a 99-00 FRC? Save money over the C5Z06 but still have the hard top and light weight!

 

Get what you like. I probably have enough money to get a vette, but they are just not my thing. I like the TA way better the stance is just

 

go with the vette u wont regret it there pretty fast stock so now imagen with a lil work done to it go with the vette my opinion

 

I would say your confused about what your looking at. A C6?? or a C5 or fbody?>!?!?! There is no question there its the money. AT 35k or less you not looking at a C6.
