Knock sensor Knock sensors will remove timing. If you have done exhaust work lately it could be contacting somewhere and causing false knock. Or just a bad sensor like you said. To check for a bad sensor just up the octane with some race gas and if the knock goes away its real, if it don't its likely false. Just drive the tank down and put in a small amount of 100 sunoco unleaded. You probably have a hunch already especially if you did some exhaust work lately. You could also have pinched a wire if you did some recent intake removal. So it might not be the sensor. Sometimes they get contaminated from water. If you do replace one Id do both, and put sealant on the rubber seal to seal out water. Sometimes poly mounts can cause false knock but its not too common. Someone else can probably help a lot more than me I'm not too well versed on tuning ECT Boone

If the sensor(s) is bad it will throw either a P0327 or P0332 code. Knock sensors listen for unusual vibrations, knock, pings etc.. in the engine. If they hear knocks or pings then it will retard the timing causing the engine to run safer (and slower).

well, it's a very faint knock. It hasn't lost any power but it worries me. I have done some recent exhaust work and I have no sound deadening as my car is stripped except driver seat and dash. So I hear every gear that intertwines with another. I could just be hearing things I wouldn't normally hear but I'd rather be confident. I did run some racing gas last week and it didn't clear up.
