Go to your local race or motorcycle shop and try some on. Find out what fits right and then you can shop online with ebay etc.

get a piece of string and wrap it around your head then meassure it this will be close, i went one size smaller helmet fits great. but its not just any helmet it has to be an approved helmet ie. SFi, SNELL, SA2005 http://store.summitracing.com/egnsea...s=false&N=+115

CAUTION: Motorcycle helmets are designed differently than helmets for automobile racing............motorcycle helmets are designed to take one impact while automobile racing helmets are designed to take multiple impacts, such as in the case of rollovers.

AS far as I have been told, you must wear a helmet if you under 13.5

Go to a local place that sells motorcycles and try some on to be sure. There are also sizing charts online where you can measure the circumference of your head. You may want to look into HJC. I currently use an HJC CL-14 that is Snell and DOT approved. It was only about $60.

Motorcycle helmets are fine for drag racing, at least at Oreilly Raceway Park. Must be Snell approved.
For road racing, however, a different certification is required.
You really need to fit the helmet first. My HJC helmets run a little smaller than other brands, such as a Shoei. Plus, different styles fit differently, and may fit your headshape better than others.

Motorcycle helmets are fine to use to a point. For the original poster they will be fine, but for faster cars they may need sa05 helmets with the fireproof lining.

If you are planning to make your car a lot faster then I would say spend the extra money on the good helmet. Just because you don't need the better one is no reason not to protect your head, you only get one of those.

And as FXGS said motorcycle helmets are not as resilient as automotive helmets.
