Well you can not drive your car? Cause if you own an LS1 it's almost impossible to not rod it sometimes, and spun bearings or knocks or whatever just tend to happen to hot rods. It's sad but true if you like to drive hard then you'd better be willing to pay big $$$$$

A well built engine wont spin bearings provided its cared for. Fresh oil is a must. the whole every 3K miles thing is actually not as important as it used to be. But if the oil on your dipstick looks like Hersheys syrup, change it. Thats bad.
What spins bearings is usually high rpm load and detonation. Rod bearings hate that.

How exactly do you keep your oil clean though? I change mine with Mobil 1 every 3k and after a change and running the car for a little while, it always ends up brown. Doesn't seem like there's anything I can do. I've done the seafoam trick in the crankcase but it didn't solve it.

And I've got 6 quarts of 0w30 GC sitting here for the next change.

Stock the rev limiter is set at 6200. But some of these guys rev their stock (rotating assembly) engines to 7200. But with a stock cam, there is no need to go over 6200. I personally don't rev over 7K just to be safe.

The biggest thing holding you back for high RPM's, assuming your car can breath up there, is the connecting rod bolts. 98-00 cars have weak connecting rod bolts, so spinning them even to 6500 like me is risking spinning a bearing b/c the rod bolt may stretch. 98's have it even worse b/c they have the worst oiling of all the years. I upgraded my oil pump to a ported and shimmed LS6 pump, but have not changed the rod bolts yet.. will do that when I go to a lightweight K-member since I'd have to drop it to change the bolts in the car anyway.

When your oil pump dies! Then them bearing fry! And the only reason sometimes is **** happens! And if you have an LS1 it can happens quick. There a guy on here with an 02 Camaro with like 23,000 miles on his car and his oil pump quit the other day. He was lucky enough that the GM dealership fixed it under warranty.
