Same here (as far as the only driving muscle cars goes). But like I say to all of the import (mostly Camry/TOY) loving sheeple on bobistheoilguy.com; "I guess that my f body/GM/domestic is sooo much the exception to the rule (as far as breakage/reliability/etc. goes) that I must be the 'luckiest man on the planet', huh?? Point being, they (the "precious" imports) are supposed to butcher us on gas mileage, as it's one of their "claims to fame" (usually the first thing out of the stupid ricers' mouths when they get slaughtered). I, (as well as others on here it seems) think it is really funny that so many of them do not, despite having 1/3 the performance

The most miles I ever got out of a tank (before I got nervous) was 327. That's somewhere in the 22-23mpg range. Which is quite good since I'm always gettin' on it. Helluva lot better MPG than my Bullitt which I'd be lucky to get 250 mi or so between fill-ups.

Almost makes me want a tranny swap from the A4 just to get the better gas mileage I get only 28 max on the highway at 70mph. This is with my 3.8L V6 at about 2200RPM. Manual would drop that RPM down and get my gas mileage up for sure. Probably more fun to drive too - except I'm no good with stick, only driven one 4 times and learning in city traffic is probably not the best idea

Oh well, like everything else I want to do to this car it has to wait. Can't afford to do anything...bleh

With the 3.42 gears, the only trip I took I got 29.2, tops out half way. I put 4.10's in, drove the same road, again tops out half way got 29.6.

A few months ago drove again tops out half way with the 4.10's and got 30 even. That was before headers, I'd assume headers would increase it alittle. I'm not complaining one bit. People are shocked when I tell them I get 30mpg o nthe highway

I must have a heavy foot. I can get 27 mpg, but typically get mid to upper 26 mpg. Plug changes, oil changes, fuel system cleaner, regular fuel filter changes - nothing matters. I will presume that all others who get better mpg are either driving the speed limit or below.

Agreed with the OP.

2200 mile trip. Kept all gas recipts and the 90 mph speeding ticket. I made it MUCH faster than we've ever gotten there and we've been going for 20+ years. BONE stock, interstate + city = 26.8 mpg.

The time with 3.42 gears I tired for the best mileage.

The time I got 30 even with the 4.10 gears I actually went to a car cruisin, and ofcourse had to show off to some mustang owners

I drove 3k miles cross country last month in an 02 WS6 and averaged 29mpg. I was in 6th with cruise on most of the way doing ~75-80 mph average.

Yeah, I have a heavy foot. I suppose slowing down a little would help... But really, I typically drive within the "cushion" (5-7 mph over posted) so I don't get run over. But good grief - 2k rpms at 90mph, the car is just loafing...(back in my younger days of course...)

I'll be curious to see if my mpg improves a little after installing my LTs.
