most shops around here charge 65/hr minimum, with alot being like 75/hr....so if its a 4 hr job on the books, it will be 260 if they charge 65/hr.

which is why i try and do all the work myself

it took me 13 hours to do: headers, y-pipe, (transmission uninstalled, rebuilt (not by me) and reinstalled too, with panhard rod and panhard rod relocation kit.

I had the help of 2 cousins and a lift.

I wasted the most time getting the driver's side header in (4 hours of cursing, resting etc), once that went in, everything got put together fairly quickly after that...

From mine, it took about 6 hours. I have Hooker SuperComps and the driver's side engine mount had to be unbolted and jacked up quite a bit. Passenger side went in like cake though. The oil-bypass nub above the filter and filter itself also had to be removed. Removing the coilpacks makes it alot easier, and did not have to disconnect the steering knuckle. This is with these type of headers though, I've heard Pacesetter and Kooks go in no problem with out messing with the mounts. As for the stock exhaust bolts from the manifold to the y, just break them. You won't end up reusing them anyway Did mine in my buddy's garage.

Oh Yeah, one thing that I forget to think about while doing the header install and jacking the motor up is the lines to the Power Steering Pump. It will get fluid all over you alternater

Damn! I had no idea it was that expensive for a headers install in other states! In my area, couple of hours south of Houston, TX, the most will be about $150.

Thats ridiculous to install headers, me and my friend did mine in a few hours, his in about 3. I would not pay a shot that much to do headers.
