true, but most (me included) may not be as careful with an engine with fewer miles on it. now that my LT1 is over 100k, i tend to be more careful and watchful with the things i mentioned above.

I understand being paranoid, i've got a 114k on my 99 T/A. I just took the heads off to replace the head gaskets and the engine looked great. I change my oil religiously, and i wont say i baby the car, cause i dont, i dont race it everywhere, but i do get on it every now and then, and it runs great. I am more worried about the tranny taking a dump on me. Have fun with it, if it breaks, build it back, break it again.

I saw an 98 LS1 in auto trader with 430,000 original miles so I wouldn't be worried at all. I'm gonna see if I can find that again, I was pretty shocked however if the car is taken care of it should run forever.

my dad has a 89 chevy work truck that has'nt seen a mile or paved road in over 10 years and is always in 4wd and under load 80% of the time and its got 280,000 miles on it and everything but the tranny is original ( and it was swaped out for another used one so i know it has atleast 100,000 miles on it). i know its not a ls1 but an ingine is alot stronger and more durable than alot of use realize.

Step on it dont be a *****! She's gonna go sooner or later dont blame yourself, have fun with it man.

My mom had a two Z28's she commuted in. One a 98, one a 01. Both of those cars ended up with over 170K on them. As long as they were maintained and taken good care of you have nothing to worry about. Both of those cars hauled *** and took everything I threw at them back then, which was back in 98 when she bought her first one off the floor. LOL

Because the engine has a lot of miles, I've never pushed it over 5000 rpms yet in fear of bending a pushrod or something. Should I keep doing what I'm doing or am I just being too paranoid?
Why did you buy it if you are scared to take it to redline?

Thats a lot of miles. I beat on mine with 102K, Those engines are strong, but you may want to consider a rebuild or a new car of you want to keep hitting it hard!
