I have had 2 cars in my life:
1. 1982 monte carlo (future race car) which i still drive and love. 14 mpg and ragged out!
2. 94 z in my sig. (weekend/summer toy) 11mpg in town, and 14mpg highway. Current Daily driver
We also have a 2005 civic (wifes) 38mpg highway
I have been playing with the idea of getting a m6 ls1 ws6 for a d/d when we pay off her car. Later down the road this might turn into a 2nd toy (8-10 years from now). Are there any problems you could think of with this?
I want a 2001-2002 ls6 intake/block? M6 for sure. At what point does a ls1 start having problems (miles) and what are the common problems besides, window motors and possibly a headlight motor?
Also how much money am i looking at?

If you start modding it(which you will) and want to launch hard and at high rpms the rear will not take it. Another common problem is the door panels cracking but there is a sticky to explain that and how to fix it.
I bought mine for 17k with 39k miles on it in imaculate condition. You will see them on here with 75k for the $13k range.

I'd do it in a heartbeat. My 99 Formula (WS6 Clone) is pure fun to drive. Definitely get the M6, auto's kill the fun factor of a daily driver. The hard part will be to not turn it into a hot rod....the temptation will be hard to resist. Good Luck. I would guess that a good clean used WS6 will be about 15K and up.

Well, I went from a 89 T/A 305 TBI getting 15-16 mpg to a 00' Firehawk getting 15-16 mpg. I was really pissed about that. I DD my Firehawk last year but not this year. The car is to nice to drive everyday and beat up.
I bought a M6. My city has a lot of stop lights. It's really easy to drive and it's way more fun than an A4.

I've been DD'ing my '02 TA M6 since I bought it new in 10/01. I've got 65,6xx miles on it now. I haven't had to drive the TA in bad weather, I've always had a beater or truck to fill in for that.
Issues I've had -
Both window motors around 50k
Rear Axle at 58k (Probably due to running a set of Nitto Drags)
Failed driver's side cat at 15k
T-stat sticking in "open" position 64k
All but the T-stat was covered under warranty.
I would definitely go for the M6, you won't regret it. The people that say 'you will have to wipe the grin off your face when you drive it' aren't kidding.
As far as fuel milage, I average 16-18 in most driving. My worst, 8 MPG while racing at Summit Point,WV. Best of 31 MPG driving to Bowling Green, KY for Buick GS Nats in 2002.
Good luck, and enjoy the car when you get it!

'99 with only 50k miles. Runs mid to low 12's with just boltons. Its an M6 and it has been meticulously maint'd (besides all the f'n pollen around here!)
PM if interested!
