Street Friendly Exhaust
#25
No longtubes in Cali, if the cops hassle you enough and know even a little bit, the relocation of the cat will nail you hard.
to be street friendly sound wise, the goal is to keep the lower rpm sound tame.
As an 02 car, your manifolds are like shorties, so mid and long tubes are the only things you can do for a good gain in power.
A TD setup can give a nice improvement in power and it'll be the mufflers that will determine the exhaust note. Borla makes a good tame muffler for idle-cruise but still has enough flow to let out a screaming sound at WOT. I think it's their XR-1 series. Flowmaster also makes some single chambers that work well too (not the crappy 1 in 2 out 80's?? series).
Some glasspacks and bullets are out of the question since they offer no real muffler capability.
I think spiralflow makes a muffler that works well to cut sound in that idle-cruise range and still gives a nice WOT note.
I'm running a muffler from Solo Performance on my duals. idle has an increased bass tone to it. cruise is just slightly louder than stock, WOT screams though I'm not behind it to hear it(just once on the dyno I did stay behind it and realized how loud it can get).
