I was wondering what mods to start out with. i have a flowmaster exhaust and nitto drs. i didnt know if i should look for headers intake manifolds or what. also i keep running a p0340 code for cat converter bad. but i know my cat isnt bad. i think it might be an o2. anyone have similar issues.

If you're worried about performance, the flowmaster should be the first thing to go. However, if you like sound over performance, stick with it and get LTs and a catted y if you want cats and to pass emissions.

I'm going with Hooker 1 3/4s Ceramic Coated, Hooker O/R Y and a Hooker Catback. A lot of people like the Pacesetters and Texas speed has a nice LT+Y pipe combo and they're a sponser. Give them a call they gave me a good deal on my set up that I'm going with...

Although you can find this stuff in a sticky or search and it's all personal preference, I'll just throw out my personal preference for order of bolt-on power-based mods on a stock car. This is based on many things (price, install, power gained, etc, all considered).
Lid with smooth bellow, cold-air induction, catback, long-tubes w/ ORY (or catted), electric cutout, LS6 intake for 98-00 models, ported throttle body, pulley.
Obviously a stall would have to go in there somewhere for an automatic, but which stall would be based on what setup you plan on going with in the future.

After seeing cars with Flowmaster catbacks post high 12 second times don't bother buying another exhaust. People bag on the Flowmaster, but there are people running near 400 RWHP with them. Why waste money by getting rid of it?
Longtubes and a cutout make more sense than ditching your catback. Just my opinion though.

Leave your cats.Allot of people won't buy a car if someone pulled the cats.Highflow ones aren't all that spendy anyway.I've got slp flow pack, magna flow, hypertuned(that kinda sucks as I don't own the tuner so I can't just go back) and that's it.Pretty damned quick! I've also heared that headers don't do all that much beyond sound, but I want em.ls6 intake, and bigger tb and maf and I'd guess the exhaust will be a bigger deal.At that point, bigger injectors would help too.once I get a good programer or have it programed(still tryin to figure that stuff out), I'm pretty much done with the motor and will move on to the rest of the drivetrain.T.c. and tranny work, rear end, suspension, chassis braces, maybe even a good cage.

We used to build up a bunch of fix it tickets in my built cal bug, then go across the street to the mall p-lot(lived in an apt) and swap back to the stock 1200cc motor for inspection. But I couldn't even be running a paper filter it it didn't have the epa cert. on it.

Cal. sucks that way! You can't even pass if you have a non cert. air cleaner!
