As far as I know, having an LS6 block DOES NOT net you the LS6 cylinder head, if that were the case I would consider selling the '99 for a '01 or '02! Someone please confirm.
CORRECT it is the BLOCK ONLY !....

Re: How to tell if have LS6 block I pulled the heads off my car for a head swap and the person who was helping me said I had an LS6 Block because the two back water passages were blocked off. I am going to check the casting # now to see for sure. Just checked last two #'s are 78

Dude, you guys are making it way too complicated.
You're onto something with the bullseye method.
Look on the top of the block RIGHT in front of the throttle body.
If you see a bullseye on the block you have an LS1 block, if not then it's an LS6.
