Default Lid question

I just put on my MTI clear lid and the MAF doesnt stay in there very well. It was a PITA to get out of the stock like, then I tighten down the clamp with the MTI and it like wants to slip out. Should I leave it or find some way to hold it there without making it leak?

I had the same problem for awhile with my MTI clear lid. I tightened the band around it, and I checked a few weeks later. No more gap! It was kinda weird.

Yea, my SLP lid was a pain in the *** to install. Once the plastic softens ever so slightly it becomes easier. Have to remember that the engine, IM, TB, MAF mount slightly differently in every car, and vibrate and move all the time. Just keep adjusting it.

What actually happens, is that the heat and stress of the engine vibration weakens the the plastic nipples (for lack of a better word) and helps them to form them to your car. Even hard plastic is suprisingly elastic under heat and repititious pressure, so just keep adjusting it every so often. It is kinda like breaking in a pair of shoes. After about 4-5k miles, and consistent adjusting it will fit like a glove.

Common problem. Most likely, the lid is not back far enough. The edge of the lid should be inset a little from the base. It does not really look right but it is.

i cut 1.5 inches off my smooth bellow... + took off the radiator support plastic peice up top and trimmed that peice where the intake was pressing down on it.

now it fits like a jewel.
