Question about LS1 Engine
Question about LS1 Engine Hey, i wondering if there were any problems with the first year of production for the Ls1 engine? ANy recalls? Any major problems? Let me know, Thank you
by first year do u mean 97 or 98?
from what I gather the 98s at least had weaker rod bolts, oil pump issues, and more complicated to tune pcm/harnesses
I ended up buying a 98 since I needed a computer and harness seperate anyway and already had planned on replacing the oil pump as well

to the best of my knowledge, but maybe it was 00 up for the rod bolts? don't remember on that one
they also changed from perimeter bolt valve covers to center bolt
i'm sure someone can chime in with more...actually i think there's a sticky up somewhere that tells every difference year to year
