I don't think gutting your cats are gonna help performance that much.

A ton of ppl run gutted cats. Im assuming you have an aftermarket catback? If you dont yet there is no reason to even mess with the cats because the increased flow will be wasted if its the stock cat-back system.

If you do, just go ahead and take them down and pound all the junk out of them. I think there are tutorials on here somewhere on exactly how to do it. As mentioned above the other option would be to buy an off road y pipe but that is gonna cost some money. Either route you are gonna get a check engine light until you get someone to tune that out.

Also mentioned above if you decided to keep them intact, and sell them whole, because of the precious metal content in them, members will buy them up in 2 seconds for 150-200 bucks.

ORY=Off Road Y-pipe. Y-Pipe with no cats.

I guess I answered that a little late!

Catalytic Converters contain Platinum. I work in a large exhaust manufacturing plant where we make cats and mufflers. We just had an employee steal about 92 cats and take them to the scrap yard to collect over $9,000.

Sell your stock cats and get you a header and ORY combo. They will still work pretty well through your stock catback. Not as well as an aftermarket one of course. Just save up your money and buy a catback next. As long as your state doesn't have vehicle inspections, you'll be very happy with the gains from headers and an ORY.
