Default Header install?

So I've been wanting to get headers put on my car for a while now, and I've been looking around at them, and not really sure which ones would be best for my formula. I've looked into hooker long tubes, and getting them jet hot coated.

Any advice on what ones to get, and how much of a pain in the *** is it to install them yourself, or would it be better just to find someone to do it?

Hookers are good, cheap and easy to find plus you can do it yourself

did pacesetters for the first time by myself, its a pain in the *** but its do able and its worth it do to it yourself for the experience. as far as putting the actual headers in, that took about 20 min-the rest of the stuff you have to do before took the most time!

Headers are not all that much of a pain just very time consuming.

If you have never done them before. figure a day to do them. You will need help. Someone to hold the header in place from the bottom while you start a bolt or two to hold them in place.

The driver side starts facing front and you rotate it into place. The passenger side slides right up.

Kooks fit the best, but cost more than the others. If I were not doing Kooks, I would go Pacesetters. Cheapest and fit well from what I have read.

if you are looking at the hookers with jethot coating, you are better off getting the jethot headers themselves, they are same design as the hookers but have thicker flanges, o2's are on the inside where there is more room, and they are jethot coated inside and out where others are just coated on the outside

The Pacesetters do need the extensions. I would assume all LT headers do. Key word here is assume, lol.

what about all those hoses leading to the manifolds? What do you do with them? Is there a place to put them into the headers or what? :S

Depends on whether you buy race or emission headers. You can put block off plats on the emission headers, it just looks fugly.

i bought the ebay headers(stainless and cost 440 shipped with a ORY), and so far no complaints. just make sure you put in poly motor and tranny mounts in while your stock manifolds are off, they are near impossible to put in later. Also change your plugs and wires while you have the number 8 accessible. make sure you get o2 extensions, and sims(if your not getting a tune)

All those belong to your AIR system, they can be ripped out, and the smog pump that hooks up to it, you will throw a few codes, but you can get them tuned out. Now you know what it means when you see the !AIR as a mod listed in people's sig. if your car is an 01 or 02 then you dont have to take off EGR stuff, if it is a 98-00 then you'll have to take all that stuff out to. Best advice is find a bunch of people in your area that know what they are doing and have them help you do the install, its not that hard but it is definitly easier and faster if you have a lot of people helping.
