And to take off the shifter there is a pin that is u shaped on the front of it. The side which faces the radio. I just took a flat head screw driver and popped it out. Then just pull up on the **** and it will come off.

may be easier to pull the back interior panels off too for the plastic wing nuts. should be 5 of them on each side i believe.
(speaking from trans am experience here, is it different on a camaro?)
yeah camaro's only have like 3 wing nut things one them
oh and just a quick tip, put the retainer back on the shift **** half ways so you dont loose it, believe me it's a bitch trying to find that retainer in the car, it looks like a over grown staple basically
