Default LS1 or LS6 in 2001 TA

How can one find out if there Ta has a LS1 or LS6. for both the intakes and block. I know that info is somewhere in the forms but cannot find it. I did read that some 2001 Trans Ams got the LS6 block or heads. Whats the right story on this?

Some 99's I thought got the LS6 block, never the heads....and the block was no benefit to have really. Short story, you have an LS1.

You have the LS6 intake for sure. You would have to find the numbers stamped on the block to decide if it is truly an LS6 block. No cars came stock with the LS6 heads. Also the LS6 was not introduced till 2001, so no 99's came with the LS6 block.

The LS6 block doesn't have the circle stamped into the block on the front just below where the left head sits. Also the block material appears darker. The only way you have an LS6 is if someone swaped it in there. The head # is 243 you most likely have 853 heads on a 99/00 and 241 on 01/02 there were 806's in 97/98 but they were perimeter bolt heads which isn't a factor for you. Its very very rare to find a car with a factory LS6 block.
