Default Cam-Will it be too much?

With all the questions about cams I have lost all thinking capacity about it hahaha. I was looking at the texas speed site and thinking about going with the ms4/115lsa . will that bee too much? Currently pretty much a full bolt on a4 01 ws6. I WILL BE INSTALLING A 3600 STALL. Is that going to be a reasonably streetable cam? Im not looking for too radical but My car will probally be this way for awhile before next summer. All advice is appreciated-Tim

The ms4 is a huge cam. You will need atleast a 4000 stall for it. Most people would say that the ms4 is not streetable, but people have different tollerences.

The MS4 is not exactly for a dd car but produces awesome results. If you decide to go for it you will definitely need a 4k stall. I went with MS3 with a 3600 stall and kinda regret not goin with a 3800 or 4k. If you don't want that big of a stall, change the cam to a 228/228 perhaps or somewhere in that range for a streetable car.

A good streetable cam would also be the TR 224/224. Lots of people have had that cam, run great numbers and times, and love the driveability of it. I think a ms4 for a m6 with gears would be alright on the streets, but auto....need 4k stall like mentioned above, and/or some 3.73's out back. Ms3 might be alright for street use, but again, large stall. Try to take a ride in a ms4 a4 and see how it is. If you like it, do it. If not..look into other cams. There are ALOT out there, and likewise, people have different views in what is streetable. Just search, and also head into the internal engine section and read up over there. Hopefully you like whatever you decide.

I made 452rwhp and 408rwtq with a 12bolt that had 4.30 gears with a 224/228 581/588 110 cam. This is a great dual purpose cam that gets it done on the street and on the track

I'm not a newb here, but I did always have a question about cams. I am more into sbc's, and I was wondering why the cam in my car has 23x-244 duration, but substantially less lift?
Can anybody answer my question? Does it have to do with the heads, and how many CC's it flows, or is there another reason?

You should not have any problems with a MS4. But I would look into a 4000 stall.

do you daily drive your car?? if so the MS4 is friggin huge for a DD A4... and yeah you would need to step up to at least a 4000 stall for a cam that big.

I started off saying i wanted the MS4 bc i was in love with the sound and numbers that are possible with that cam, but if you research enough it wont be hard to convince yourself otherwise. Even after looking for months i then got help from PatrickG with getting a custom cam for my setup! best decision i have ever made! GL man

So what would you recommend for a full bolt on and staying around the 3600 stall range? Driven no more than 20 miles a day-unless taking it out for the night, I definetly want people to know its there and make more upper end power than lower maybe 2k-6k? Thanks guys Ive done some research but like you said there is so many of them i cant think straight anymore

You could go ms3 like myself and I believe others stated above, or talk to pat G or predetor z and have them spec you out a cam that will fit your needs.

i've got a 'small' 224/224 on 114+4 and people know its there... there is no mistake that ls1's have a cam, go for a 112 or 110 lsa and it'll lope like no ones business... check out ls1sounds.com and take a listen to a few cams. that is a BIG cam!
