The 5.3 heads are great for a budget N/A or nitrous build. The PRCs are ported and have larger valves and with the shorter runner of the 5.3 they usually have more torque than a 243 head and will also raise the compression which is great for N/A or nitrous.

In your case if you are sure that you are putting a procharger on the car later you would want to shoot for a 8.5-9.0 static compression ratio. Honestly though I would consult a sponser wiht procharger knowlage as to what the optimum compression ratio is.

Your car will run fine with lower compression until you get teh procharger, its just if later you change your mind and dont get the procharger you could have made more power in the beginning by running more compression.

In short....you can run high compression and no FI or you can run low compression with FI and both can get the same compression. However...with a SC or turbo you are making boost, and boost makes more power than compression, so you lower your compression to run more boost.

NO! the 5.3's from TSP and other sponsers are ported to increase flow and have bigger 2.02/ 1.57 valves than stock truck heads so that is where much of the gain comes from. Two TOTALLY different animals

No!, they have to have port work to make more power! They do not flow as much as ls1 heads not ported but ported they are better then ls1 853/241 heads

how much do those bump you're compression up to, with just stock gasket thickness and stock flat-top pistons? is it 10.7:1?
