its a pretty easy install. if you feel resistance when you try pulling the intake out, stop. my brake booster line got caught on the OPS and busted it. you need to disconnect 1 small vacuum line and an electrical connection from the back of the manifold and then disconnect the brake booster line at the brake booster.

ls1howto page is really helpful. just be careful and go slow when you remove the manifold though

Sorry for the bump, but had a question about this swap. I got a 99 LS1 and would like a LS6 intake for a possible cam swap. How do you retain EGR with LS6 manifold if the connections are not there? Do you just delete the EGR in the tune? What do the 01-02 cars do for egr?

I need something to pass emisisons both visual and sniffer test.

if you want to retain the egr, you need to buy an ls6 manifold from SLP thats comes modded with the connection. most ppl will just swap on an ls6 manifold, and block off the connection at the header. then you can tune out the egr codes, or just live with a SES light.

01-02 cars arnt equipped with egr. also, they came from the factory with the ls6 intake

Or you could buy a FAST intake the have provisions for EGR you can drill fits really good.

i didnt want to spend money on a FAST setup since its not needed for my goals. I'm gonna just do mild cam only type setup and want to do it on a budget. LS6 intake seems to be best bet. IF 01-02 cars didnt even have EGR, i probly can delete EGR entirely and pass just fine

You can pick up a FAST 78mm for a little more than the LS6 I got mine for 400.

Probly gonna do LS6 intake with 01-02 style headers so no egr is present and hope it passes just fine without it

If you retain the A.I.R System, which you most likely are, due to it being part of the emissions system, the driverside connection at the manifold/header is located on a different primary from 98-00 compared to 01-02. In the 98-00 style the A.I.R. Port is on the primary for the number one cylinder. For the 01-02's it's on the number three primary. I don't see why you couldn't just bend the A.I.R. tube back in order for it to connect at the #3 rather than #1. But I, personally, haven't ever done that when installing LT's on an LS1, so I can't say for sure how difficult or what issues there maybe doing this. I know I wouldn't want to order a part that I think is going to work and then not be able to install it because of some unforseen problem. Hope this helps. LOL. Good luck with your upcoming install.
