Default Got the Car...

So I think I got shammed pretty hard. I picked up the 99 T/A with 68,000 miles on it for $7,000. The interior is perfect, still had the orig plastic on carpet. Monsoon sounds good. Everything orig. Or so I thought... There's a hole cut in the panel for the t/c switch right on the pontiac symnbol. (poorly looks like with a knife.) just about right size for a toggle sw. Eh.. didn't really sweat it, started looking real hard at the car, found another hole cut beside the hatch release. Alright this must have been sprayed. So I went over this car with a fine tooth comb, and everything is orig. There is only one aftermarket part on the entire car. A bbk 80mm tb. It's clunking and banging like the torque arm is loose, and the wheel's have no balanceing weights. But my only gripe is that the throttle response is pretty slow, and the A4 is difficult to drive smoothly.

I'll be posting pics here soon. Could use some input on what route to take. My ultimate goal is 400 at the tires. But I learned with my 97 that there's a whole lot of work to get there. I'm thinking a lid, and a header / cat back combo soon, but I've got to quiet the pulley and squeeky breaks first.

could the bbk tb be causing the sluggish throttle response? due to the stock setup?

Have you done a compression check? How is the tranny fluid looking?

Tranny fluid looks great, it's not that it shifts hard, I think the throttle return spring is too stiff.

anyone use the hedman ls1 painted headers? I'm thinking bout them with header wrap on em.

I'm pretty much weary of every inch of the car. For the most part it seems the problems are small things I want to change anyway, I just wanted to do it on my own time. I have zero faith in the tranny or rear end. But the plan was to replace them both when I get back from Iraq. Hopefully it will work the way I want.

As long as the car is what you like, it really does not matter.

You will just have to replace more crap. If you know that already, you will be good.

Awesomeness!!! .... Just ordered the slp intake kit from jegs. Getting the lid, filter, hose, and ram air piece. So I'm on a start. I want to do the entire exhaust, but I'm unsure for the header direction... How does a hooker muffler sound for now? Any reccomendations? I've got a great job, but I live in San Diego right now, so everything's too expinsive.

Get some Pacesetter headers, not too expensive.

Yea go ahead and get the Pacesetter coated with ORY if you dont have emissions to worry about, I have had no issues with mine and love them! Besides that I would probably flush the tranny with new fluid, Sea Foam the engine and fuel system, then change the plugs, wires, fuel filter, and oil. Check the air filter too. If it doesnt run good after those items are changed then I would definitly check the compression. If compression is not that great I'd start saving for another forged/stroked short block, heads.... =)

Good luck with the car man and congrats!
