I'm always interested to see how the basic ls1-7 works internally and would like to do a cam and heads setup in the future. I would like to do this coming up in the future but have no idea where to start. I believe a book written by a professional writer about my key topic of interest would be a great way to start. And considering i'm to poor and can't justify buying a notebook for everytime I have a question, this would be my best bet! I could also read it everyday on my train commutes to and from work so I may be spending extra time on it. This is why I feel I should be the #1 winner!

Currently I have my motor and trans out the car. The motor is all apart and I am going to be ordering internals this month as well as sending my M6 out. This book would be great to use when I put my motor back together.
So how about number 2.
And I will write a review after using the book to put the motor back together!

I have never rebuilt anything, but I have torn a few engines down just to see how it all works. I would love to read the book and give a review. I'm a college student- so whats one more paper? Oh #28 for me!! If its not #28 then how soon can I buy this book?

I am definitely interested in reading this book and writing a review. I have a 2 year old son, who one day, I'd like to do a complete motor build with. I've pulled the heads, swapped intake manifolds, even helped do a cam swap, but doing a complete motor build is slightly outside of my experience level at this time. I'm a chemist, and write technical articles all the time, so writing a few reviews would be easy.

My number guess is #26.

I'm a college student with a dying LS1 Trans am. Id like to rebuild it, but I don't have enough knowledge about LS1s to build the lasting bulletproof engine I want. Ive built 4g63T engines from short block up but never dealt with V8s.

Congrats to The Alchemist - we have a winner!

A sincere thank you to everyone else who responded. A few of you asked when/where to buy the book. It's been available since the middle of June and can be found at pretty much any nationwide retailer (Barnes & Noble / Borders, although it may not be in stock). Several LS1Tech sponsors sell it, too, such as Exotic Performance Plus. And there's always the publisher's website, www.cartechbooks.com. And, of course, the place where one of The Alchemist's reviews will be appearing: amazon.com.

Thanks again everyone for your interest!

Very cool Idea. I look forward to reading your book since I have read almost every automotive publication I could find from S-A, etc.

I'm pretty sure the publisher sent one to Linda since I mentioned SAM in the book / possible use in the curriculum. So there may be a copy floating around the offices.

Why would anyone want to buy the book when we have the internet with all the information we want for free.

I somewhat agree with that statement, but books are great for collecting all the information in one place, and have it easily accessible.
The internet is kind of like ripping out all the pages out of the book and hiding them around your house. All the information is still there, but not quite as accessible.

But, we're all different. Heck, I've built several internet NICs, and I still read books about networking..

So this book is already available, I'm assuming? Even if it has a little more knowledge in it, then say "How to built LS1/LS6 Performance" then it's well worth it. Wish I would have caught this thread in time. I picked up "How to build Chevy Smallblocks" and never got a chance to read it because my roomate some how poured a bucket of water on it the day I bought it that SOB. This will be a good chance to learn somemore
