Folks:
Now that I've got your attention, let me explain: yes, I am giving out a free copy of my new book ("How to Rebuild GM LS-Series Engines," published by CarTech / S-A Design)! However, I am only giving out one (1) copy, and here's why:
In order to increase its exposure and get some valuable feedback on the book, I'd like someone to post an honest, well-written review on this site as well as on amazon.com. I am intentionally posting in this forum because I'd like to see the views of someone who is a novice in the field of working on engines in general (book giveaway for experienced LS1Tech-ers to come in a few weeks). I wrote the book in such a way that while experienced engine builders can certainly benefit from the information, even someone who knows little about engines (whether LS-Series or otherwise) should be able to get a whole lot out of it, gaining the ability to rebuild their own engine or at least perform extensive work on it. I'd like to see how well I succeeded at this goal.
I don't see any better way to do this than having everyone who is interested post a reply to this thread (no PMs) with a 1-2 sentence description of their experience level working on engines and a number between 1 and 50. Whoever comes closest to the number I'm thinking of without going over - and whose experience level isn't way outside of what I am looking for - wins. Deadline is noon eastern this coming Thursday, Sept. 4.
Again, all I am looking for in return are two (2) reviews, one in this forum and one on amazon.com, both to be posted by the end of September. A few well-written paragraphs will suffice.
Thanks in advance to everyone for their interest!

Id be a taker being that I am Putting a 6.0 in my 95 so I never had a chance to take an lsx apart/rebuild. I have a pretty good idea but haven't got all the specifics and little things like not to forget the oil plunger lol
and is your number 32

Everyone miss this: He said a number between 1 and 50.
Either way, here goes squat.
My eperience would be a 8 out of 10. I graduated in the top 5 from UTI for auto and diesel back in 2005. I got my ASE certs, but I don't have the shop experience for the badges. I have rebuilt a few motors so far(no LS1 ones yet). I don't work on cars for a living. I make more money doing what I do now. Yet, I would rather work on car if the opportunity ever came up.
Laters. . . . . . . . . .
Oh yeah, I say #49.

Gimme lunky numbe 32 anyways here goes. I feel I would work because I am diving into an LS engine for the first time right now. I have it on the stand out in the garage. I have never done anything serious with engine just some minor wrenching mainly maintence stuff. THis is my first internal engine work. I'm putting an LQ4 in my thridgen.

Okie doke! 17
My experience is by no means professional. I have 6 years of shop experience, tearing down (unfortunately not rebuilding) Gen III motors. I basically know every small nut and bolt on these powerplants. I'm soon to be putting another LS1 into my car. Mostly factory, except some small things
and this one I'm sure to build. Good luck with the book!

"I am not mechanically inclined" so they say. I can change my oil, fuel filter, and "most" of my spark plugs, and thats about it. I'm sure I could do more with a knowledgable person/book right there, but until then I'm scared I'm really going to break something.
I'd love to be able to save the labor costs and do the work myself!
As for the number: I say 16
