Default Just wanted to thank GM

Got under the car for the first time since owning it today to change the oil. After all the Japanese **** I've owned over the years I was expecting to get filthy hunting for the filter, but it was right there on the bottom next to the drain plug. Awesome.

The ones that suck to change are the newer F-150s.

Are japanese cars confusing??? Ive NEVER OWNED ONE!!!HA
lol
If you think that was easy, my GMC Syclone has a remote oil filter on the inside of the drivers side fender from the factory. Don't have to mess with a tight filter under the car, just right there infront of you!.
GM might be cheap basturds, but they do have good ideas to make me lazy and fat.

on a lt1 like yours i agree,
ls1 is way simpler and faster to change plugs on with headers or stock manifolds

Some late 80's grand am has the filter mounted hole side down. Real nice when you take it off.

Can't be harder than my subaru svx with a 6 cylinder boxer engine. The plugs come out sideways right into the frame . Just barely enough room to shove a socket in there with your fingers, then attach the ratchet to it and give one good twist. Then you gotta use pliers to grab and twist over and over. I've only changed them once in three years and it'll probably be another three before I get myself into that four-hour cursing session again.

It sure is nice having the filter on the bottom where it belongs. On my Escort it is on the side of the block between the block and the firewall. With lotsa crap in the way of course, Ford wouldn't have it any other way. IMPOSSIBLE to change without spilling oil everywhere.

Where's it at on the F-bods? On the GTO the filter is facing straight down above the skid plate. I just loosen one bolt, take out the other three and swing it out of the way. Hell of a lot easier than changing the oil in my old Honda. Reaching up between the firewall and the engine sucks. If it wasn't for how low the car sits to get the drain pan under it, I wouldn't even have to lift the car up for the oil change.

Yeah, my wife has one. There is no possible way to change the filter without oil running down the block. Very hard to get a wrench on too if it's tight. I wrap the area with a rag and get most of it.

But mine is right there by the oil pan where it belongs.

That's where it is on my DD Blazer. Don't have to lift it at all. Too bad the guy who owned it before me let the mount for the filter rot away The first time trying to change it I almost ripped the whole set up out.

hahaha i feel your pain, i used to work as an auto tech at fleetfarm before going to college and i would cringe when i had to bring one of those pos's in to change the oil

of course the store is right along a major highway with people doing 80mph so these cars would come off the freeway and then expect me to reach my hand between the firewall, and the back of the engine with forearm burning on the transmission and the damn exhuast
