I Recently saw an ad for a chip that is claiming 50HP gains for LS1 cars. Is this possible? Im kinda skeptic.

if it looks too good to be true... the "chip" you are speaking of works similar to a resistor (in fact it is a resistor, in a box) that they sell on ebay, you plug it into your IAT and it makes the computer think your in 32* weather, so it supposedly ups the timing. its really not good for anything, except selling to unknowing people on e-bay. it doesnt work, period.

Don't knock it till you try it. I gained 237.3whp from this mod alone. Plus my gas mileage went up 57%.

DO IT!!!!!

+1 on that.

Also, I just smogged mine with the chip installed, and it's so clean that the only thing that comes out of the exhaust are daisies and dandelions.

How about a legit Piggy back ECU and or even a complete re-wire Stand Alone ECU system to really fine tune the LSx motors?... Are any of those tuning systems being used on the LS1's and 2's? I know I've wired up piggy back ECU to many import V8's and have seen decent gains, as much as 20whp after a final tune from the stock settings.. Leaning out the fuel mix and what not usually makes the difference..... Unfortunalely some newer ECU's are very good thinking computers and re-adjust after a final tune over time.. Then the Piggy's become a waste of money...

I am very new to these engines and am trying to learn so bare with me if my questions are way off base....

Oh, and all those Ebay chip mod claims are spice and false advertising... So are those intake electric super chargers deals...Pure garbage...

I don't know what you guys are talking about. This is what my bone stock Z28 looked like after just a chip install. I was amazed that it actually changed the physical appearance; the car tubbed itself, changed to alcohol injection with ProCharger and much more! Best part is I can pull out the chip and it turns back to stock for good gas mileage and to pass emissions. Not bad for 20 bucks!

Im Sorry! I didnt know you guys would be so harsh on a first time LS1 owner. I thought I would receive a warm reception since I moved up in the social ranks and dumped the imports! Anyway thanks for helping. I feel stupid for even considering the posibilities.
