You probally have 2:73's but also A4's have what is called torque management from the factory which retards the timing 10 degrees so you can't beat on your car. I would put 3:42 rear in the car and get the car tuned too remove the torque management.

Having trouble spinning the tires? I wish mine would STOP spinning! My car is an A4, and I thought the same thing initially. I had a 1994 Formula first. That car would burn 'em for blocks! My 99 Z28/A4 was very disapointing at first. You know what the problem was? I was babying it! Frickin' nail it! Now, I have 3.73's, OMG what a difference!!!! The car seems twice as fast! I definitely advise getting gears. Don't Go higher than 3.73's though for an A4 though.
