How many here know anything about 4th gen 3.8 cars? The reason i ask is because i have a 02 here and the temp gauge stopped working and the fans just stay on now. Ive changed the temp sender for the gauge and nothing changed. Im lost, the stat is fine, heat is hot but im not getting a reading on the gauge. Any info/help would be appreciated. Thanks

Shane, to check the ciruit and gauge operation ground the wire to the sending unit while the ignition is on (engine not running). If the gauge deflects full scale, the circuit and gauge are OK. That would tell you the problem is in the sending unit, which I understand you have already changed. But If the gauge does not deflect full scale I would say the problem is in the ciruit or the gauge. The 3800 V6 uses a combination sensor that sends signals to both the PCM and temperature gauge. Now if it's a 3.4 the sending unit is located near the front of the left cylinder head, behind the power steering pump - on the 3800 it is located under the thottle body. Hope this helps

Here's some good news for Thunder Roads Raceway Park, AHRA Reunion Tour April 30 - May 1 2010 and AHRA U.S. Funny Car Championships Sept. 10 - 11 2010. Nitro's back on the 1/4 mile in Gilliam, La.
