For anyone interested in answering, I've got my VE dialed in within 3% error. Don't really feel like tuning the MAF right now, may delete it completely, so for an active MAFless tune I set the three MAF codes to "Error on first report" and set the MAF fail high freq @ 0. This all I need to do to make it run off the VE and narrowbands? My short term fuel trims are running 3% or less but the LTFT are going wacko, sometimes jumping in the teens for no apparent reason.....Thoughts? I'm a newbie.

You only need to set P0103 to "no mil light" and set maf fail high to 0. Then it will run off your ve table. I never use the STFT. When tuning the VE table, I use the wide band, then when I'm done, I leave STFT disabled, set closed loop to normal temperatures, and set LTFT to enable.
That should about do it for you.
Good luck.

Todd, I used the WB to get the VE where it is. I just did a log after everything was set back to normal (closed loop) to see where the fuel trims were gonna sit (wideband was removed at that point). Basically check and make sure they weren't acting crazy. STs looked really good, LTs were jumpy. Somebody recommended turning the LTs off with the MAF turned off or they can play tricks over time. LTFT is off, 0103 is off, and fail is 0. Guess I'm gonna try that and see how she does. What's the significance of leaving the SFTF off?
