It depends on the intake manifold you have. most of the time its really not a good idea, a jet change would require you to remove the entire intake

well, i'd probably have 2 kits, one plate, one direct port chances are i would leave the jetting alone on the direct port. and i realise it varies from engine to engine, im looking at doing it on a pontiac 400. as i said, im sure the clearence in the lifter valley varies..

Just place them wherever you have room and try to make them uniform. The main thing to make sure of is the angle you put them at. You want to place them so that they are spraying as close as possible to the intake valve.
What kind of nozzles do you have? straight shooters or 90* ?

There is slightly more room on them with the valley cover. I would just verify you have enough rise on the runners to clear the nozzles. Is there a reason why you want it under the intake? The water crossover will block some of the view, but it won't really be that hidden.
