Other than Shiz and ATV I haven't seen any of the "faster" guys post up their thoughts on this.

Like I said before, I don't think NMCA will go for a bracket 2 radial class. Maybe I'm wrong but I don't see it happening.

I would think that it would be pretty easy for the heavy hitters to bolt on a set of 275's and leave soft then freight train our asses on the big end.

BTW, ATV Don't think I didn't notice that you took your times out of your sig. when we started talking about a 275 class LOL

A couple of the big hitters have replied to me , and aren't thrilled about having to change their setup to run 275's. It's a little disheartening.

I never took it out just unchecked the "show your signature" button.

We have a few upgrades going on this year and with all the local 275 racing around here I expect that number to go way down this year.

If there is a good class for us to race in we will show up to Memphis, if not we have more than we can handle locally..... its all good

I replied over in the Drag Racing tech forum and in the LSX Shootout forum.

It is very easy to bolt on a set of 275 width tires. Except that when you normally run the car you run with a set of 29.5 to 30" tall tires. Your talking almost 2 inches in variance. 2 inches is alot, which means I cant spray the car as hard, or I need a new gear.

With my new combo, on a 29.5" tall tire, my gearing is set for me to go through the traps at about 8500 or so..... Switching over to a smaller tire really isn't that easy

I can tell you that NMCA isnt going to have a NOS class that is the same chassis and tire as the radial class they have now. You want a class then you will have to be creative and willing to change your car for it. If you dont want change then enter the index classes.

I am not going to the NMCA and beg for a class unless you guys band together and show that you want a class and WILL show up for it.

Then what are you suggesting for tires then? Since they allready have a Radial class, why not let the nitrous guys run on slicks? Whats your opinion on sizes?? 28, 28w, 29, 29.5, 30 ???

All these important members of the forums are saying all these things about how we CANT do this and CANT do that...... Why don't they propose what THEY THINK will pass at the NMCA. We're OPEN for suggestions

I'm showing up for the event whether it has a nitrous class or not. If it had a nitrous class, it would be sooo much more worthwhile going. I want it to be competitive

I didn't figure that a gear change would be that big of a deal to guys that have their cars running mid to low 8's. Sometimes you gotta pay to play.

I don't want to hear about pay to play. I just dumped $25K + on a new trans/engine/converter/nitrous combo to be "somewhat competitive".

Swapping gears is not an issue at all, but its not JUST that easy to swap gears and all is good. Changing to a smaller tire with more HP takes suspension changes, shock chgs, alot more testing involved.

If I had a spare Strange 40 spline, ball bearing Ultra Case in the trailer it would be very easy..... But I've yet to buy a spare.

But as it sounds, it doesn't appear that there will be a class running on 275s so I don't need to worry.

Sorry if you are on the rag or something but it's the truth. The NMCA is not gonna make a class that is tailored to YOUR car specifically. It's not like the rest of us haven't spent a **** load of money to make our cars run what they do. BTW, you wouldn't be the only one that would have to make changes.
I know that it isn't as simple as just changing tires but it isn't ******* brain surgery, it's just a little time and money. If you don't like spending lots of time and lots of money doing this then this hobby definitely isn't for you.

I never asked to have the NMCA make a class for me specifically, just a NITROUS class. If you look back, I made several posts with polls last year to break up the drag radial class and give the nitrous guys a chance.

I put my suggestions in, which would allow almost any nitrous car to run.... Granted there will be a few top guys in the bottom 8's, but I think it would a solid 8.50 class.

I've never complained at all about spending money on this hobby. I am spending the money to COMPETE in whatever class they come up with. If I have to change stuff for the LSX shootout I will. Otherwise I will run the 295 Drag radial and go with the BIG boys....and still get my *** handed to me in the first round.

Why don't you put up something constructive instead of bashing someone who tried to get a nitrous class last year. Someone who will go and compete, not bitch about it on the internet.

Madman, Jmill, anything suggestions on tires as the odds of it being a 275 class are pretty slim...

Read back through my posts, I have been trying to help out with this too. I'm just being realistic.
I would have ran my car in it last year if it would have been legal, I just didn't have enough time to get the cage finished. I will be there this year no matter what happens with the classes. I'll probably just run an index class if things don't change.

I would LOVE to see a class where a mid-high 8 sec car could win and believe it or not I have racked my brain trying to come up with something that I thought that the NMCA would go for, it just hasn't popped into my head yet....

Why dont we just have a nitrous run what you brung class.
Give it a weight requirement and slick tire size. Limited the nitrous system to cetain requirements and lets see who can keep it together and going down the track.

NMCA is not going to be able to take one class and cater to everyone.

Lets get 16 serious pre entries and actually agree on class rules. I will put my money where my mouth is and sweeten the pot if we can make this happen.

I leave for south carolina tommorow night and will return this weekend. I will then be hard and heavy to participating in this.

Exactly. Tell me where to pre-register and I'm there.

Count me as #1.

I'm good with whatever helps the nitrous community. Even if that means getting my *** trailered first round--well that would have to be next year unless the government will let me out of this state prior to Nov 1st.

We all said from the beginning that an all nitrous class was the preferred class. The feelers weren't coming in to be able to get a solid field. That grew to a 275 which would have included some FI guys. Sorry I drifted so far from the original idea.

You have to keep in mind. The fastest car does not always win. A few years ago I built a Viper for a guy that took it to the Viper nationals. He stayed up all night showing people how the PDA tuned his nitrous system and ran down the batteries. The system was stuck in a loop and no time to go get batteries. We figured since he could not spray he would go down first pass. Needless to say he went round after round due to driver error and breakage. Its was the funniest thing ever. He brought home first place with the slowest car in the field.
