The Best V8 Stories One Small Block at Time
I think I remember reading somewhere that GM suggested anything over a 440 be in N/A applications due to cylinder wall thickness and bore spacing. Any comments?
We are spraying 300 on a 454 we built. It was just featured in GMHTP last month... High 5s in the 1/8 at a pretty stout race weight.
The thing to consider is with the longer stroke the pin is pushed further up into the piston and also the compression height is altered in a bad way... Lots of people dont suggest big power adders on combos like this, but we have absolutely no issues on the combos we have built.
if you punch a race block out all the way the first time. you get one shot at a $2,000 block.
with my NA numbers on a car set up to run spray i havent seen many bigger cubes much more impressive. esp if you look at how basic my set up is i have a home ported old style intake, no sheet metal stuff here, i have a nitrous converter and a power glide with 3:73
im thinking this season with the 400 in the car and a little more power from the new heads i'll be in the 9.4- 9.5 range on motor in a car set up to run 300+
that said. i would do a 427 again without question
also, keep in mind i tuned this car with hp tuners and rev it to 8,300 and i have no clue how to tune. lol i bet in the right hands with someone who knows how to tune this car has more in it.
