Default Timing, and rate

I have a .065 nitrous and a .038 fuel i think its a 125 or 150 shot i am not sure i am leaning more towards 150, but i was wondering how much timing should i pull with this combo and and what rate. I have a Lingenfilter 2step with retard box so i can do at a certain rate what it retards at and say its 1 sec rate and i am pulling 10 degrees and .5 it pulls 5 degrees and by a full second it has pulled 10. So how much timing should i pull and at what rate. Will be spraying from 3000-6000 rpm. thanks guys.

The general rule for pulling timing is 2* per every 50hp.

ok ya right now i have it set up to pull 6 degrees at a .6 rate so by .3 it has 3 degrees pulled and by .6 it has all 6 degrees pulled. does this sound about right ?

I'd be more inclined to go ahead and pull the full 6* right off the bat being the size shot your planning on spraying.

What is the rate relied on? RPM or KPA or Gms/Cyl?? This should tell you where and when to start your percentage of rate..

The retard Rate setting controls how quickly the controller goes to the amount of timing retard set with the Degrees switch.

0......Retard is immediate.
1..............0.2 second (retard build time)
2..............0.4 second
3..............0.6 second
4..............0.8 second
5..............1.0 second
6.............2.0 seconds
7.............3.0 seconds

Correct..

It can also be done this way too

Retard Rate settings when using MAP sensor input:
Position Rate
0...........0.2 degrees/psi
1...........0.4 degrees/psi
2...........0.5 degree/psi
3...........0.6 degree/psi
4...........0.8 degree/psi
5...........1.0 degree/psi
6...........1.2 degree/psi
7...........1.4 degree/psi
8...........1.6 degree/psi
9...........1.8 degree/psi
A...........2.0 degree/psi
B...........2.2 degree/psi
C...........2.4 degree/psi
D...........2.6 degree/psi
E...........2.8 degree/psi
F...........3.0 degree/psi

If I could jump in here, while we are on this subject,
Im running a relatively low timing up top 24.5 total up top compared to some others in the 30s. I guess I still have to retard the timing 6 degrees for a 150shot? That doesnt sound right to me? So thats why im asking.
Thanks in advance!

[QUOTE=Chris@NitroDaves;11525180]The retard Rate setting controls how quickly the controller goes to the amount of timing retard set with the Degrees switch.

this is the one that i am using • Retard build time settings 8 – F. Retard and build timer will reset any time the activation signal is removed and re-applied.
Position Rate
8..............0.2 second (retard build time)
9..............0.4 second
A..............0.6 second
B.............0 .8 second
C..............1.0 second
D.............2.0 seconds
E.............2.5 seconds
F.............3.0 seconds

And its hooked up so as soon as it starts to spray the retard is activated and pulled 3 degrees at .3 seconds in and by .6 it has 6 degrees pulled. My tuner said that you don't want just a sudden timing degree drop off going from persay 30* to 24* in just a snap you want it to be gradual. So should i maybe put it to the .4 retard rate ? ?

The retard Rate setting controls how quickly the controller goes to the amount of timing retard set with the Degrees switch. For example, if you have the Degrees switch set to 10 degrees and you have the Rate switch set to 1 second, after 0.5 seconds you will have roughly 5 degrees of retard and it will take one second to build up to the full 10 degrees of retard.

Being that you are an LS2 i beleive the stock timing in those is around 22*. FOr your application i'd take out somewhere along the lines of 4*

If thats what your tuner want you to do then i'd go off his reccomendations. Me personally i've never had a problem with taken out the whole amount of timing right on the hit.
