Default 600 rwhp? and the SAUCE?

ok, after being very inquisitive for a very long time, and reading thru sticky after sticky. and seeing different thoughts from the sticky's/ im going to come out and ask it. right here.

MOST would agree that our ls1 can go to 600whp on a good tune and be for the most part reliable.

so why when people ask about what size shot to run. MOST people will say to not spray more then a 200 shot. we are talking stock to stock here, just to clarify.

i understand that its all in the TUNE. i get that. but im around 290ish stock through my A4 gto. and if i go with like a 200 shot. that would probably net me to the 460-480 range. wheres the other 120 whp at that would net me the 600whp.

i guess i just dont understand. i know nitrous is brutal and hard hitting. been spraying 100 shot now for a little while. but when i was building the turbo kit, we were gunning for around 590 whp. so why do most people say we cant do this with nitrous.

thanks for reading. im just curious what the real deal is here. so.. what, that would be like a 300 shot. LOL. right? to get to around 550-600whp. assume we are talking about nitrouse system thats rated at the wheels.

H/C/I+150+supporting mods should be around the 600 mark. Typical h/c/i ls1 is around 450 give or take plus the gas.

You need a cam and headers to keep up with a 200 or more shot of N20.
Then you'll be making more than 290hp and you will get more hp out of your nitrous kit with the same jetting.

Like atv said the little stock cam will only let you feed but so much. my bros car picked up 40 rwhp on a small aftermarket cam on the motor and an aditional 20 on the jug. Its also a natrual progression to put a cam in when your spraying it. the heads are good to do but a cam and exhaust is mandatory if you are looking for 600rwhp.

thanks guys, i guess i wasnt putting it together that a turbo forces the **** in there. and the nitrous still mostly relies on the engines natural vacum. nice stuff. i guess on to a set of nice heads

Use a progressive kit and maybe a stand alone fuel system for the wet side. That way it will come in slow for traction out of the hole and save the wear on your car.

The stock rods and "pistons" were never designed to handle 600/600 so if your developing that much power it's just a matter of time until boom. Forged rods and pistons will keep you safe,and the stock crank will handle that much power with no problem.

My car makes 605/589 on a supposed 175 shot,it's actually less than a 150 shot because the nitrous system is crank rated. There's no way I would want to make that power on a stock bottom end for any length of time.

It may not be the norm........but i have a stock 87,000 mile bottom end 589-612 238-242 cam and basic bolt on's stock heads and i made 587 hp 623 tq on a 200 shot.Maybe i'm lucky but been spraying the 02 6 speed Z for 4 yrs now and the 200 shot for a lil over a yr.
