Default Q 16 Oxygenated fuel?

What your thoughts on oxygenated fuel. I was told in a post here in the nitrous section that is was good to use on big shots. We have started my nitrous tunning with VP Q 16. Just want to here some other thoughts on it.

NO !

We ran it last year, its OK for smaller stuff (150 or so) but N02 or C23 is best for 300+

I tried it earlier this year and switched back to C-16. It didn't impress me any.

I still have a 5 gallon can of it I am going to take it back and see if they will let me trade it for something else. What is the best fuel that vp makes for big no2 hits ? C23

I see pretty much most of the turbo guys running Q16. What specifically about it makes it less popular in the nitrous world?

Oxygenated fuel incraeses cylinder temps. Opposite of what you want with nitrous.

Nitrous doesnt need the extra oxygen. You have to run a good bit less timing with Q16 on a big shot. The car will go faster with C23 and that timing in it.

Yes I assumed as much. I would like to know why it is a good fuel for FI and not no2 cars. I would think the extra heat would be a bigger issue for the FI guys. Bring on the fuel tech.

So for the FI guys the extra oxygen is worth the little added heat.

Not sure, never been that involed in a FI car.
But I do know that the N20 has plenty of oxygen and with the Q leaning out the car and making it run less timing its just not a great fuel for a big shot. We ran Q all year last year and had ALOT of issues we went to C23 this year and have almost zero issues.

Do some checking on YB and see what Monte and Steve J. have to say.

That explains a lot the reason I started this thread was because we had some tunning issues with the Q. I was lean on the fuel side even though I thought my fuel jet was on the rich side.

If it was a jet limited class (like 65 or 73 jet) it would be a good fuel becuse it will make more power N/A and that not alot of N20 but for the bigger stuff noone has had alot of success with it.
The bigtime N20 guys Prock, Monte ,Steve J. all say the same thing.
Like I said we ran it so I have 1st hand knowledge.

Good luck with the new set up!
