Fire jacket rules... Who knows 'em?
OK guys, looking to see if anyone can tell me the actual rules and required specifications for fire jacket use at the track when running N2O. My last visit at the track (bradenton, an NHRA track, been there a bunch of times before with no problems), but I was told to take the bottle out because I didnt have a Fire jacket. Ive tried doing some searching but I know the rules are always changing and theres a lot of different specifications out there on jackets. Thanks in advance for the input

Anything with nitrous at all you have to wear a fire jacket, even a 16 second import. Single layer is fine until you go 9.99, then you need a 3 layer SFI 3.2/a5, which is the standard rating for a 3 layer jacket.
If you have a power adder car that wasn't originally equipped this way (turbo, supercharger) you also are supposed to wear a jacket no matter the speed, but that's not inforced as much as it is with nitrous.
Gloves aren't required until you are in the 9.99 or faster, at that point gloves, neckbrace (which I would recommend anyway) fire pants and shoes are all required once you start going 9.99 or faster, along with a battery shutoff, NHRA sportsman certed chassis (8 or 10 pt) sfi balancer, trans shield, flexplate, driveshaft loop, aftermarket axles, proper length wheel studs.... I can go on and on.
If you have safety related questions, please ask, I am very up to date with what is needed for anything that is 7.50 or slower, I'm not up to date on stuff faster then that because I never plan to see anything past what's needed to that point.

it seems like VMP where i race is known around here for enforcing all the rules but they let me go without a helmet when my car was to fast, and judging from some of the other cars that race on fridays they let alot of stuff go.

.
Just a tip if you're on a budget. We are not allowed to use a -5 next year,
so there will be 1000's of them available real real soon. I'm sure there are plenty out there going cheap already.
Having been on fire myself, the gloves are a very very good idea at any speed.
Kind of hard to do anything with bare hands when your car is on fire. Neck collar is also a good idea, as said.
