Default First time in the 10s on 200 shot

Well, after a whole year of trying I finally made it into the 10s with a 10.967 @ 129.6 on a 200 nitrous shot. Mods in my signature. Best ET and fastest mph I've ever been. I was previously running a 150 shot to get low 11s. I was debating whether or not to run the 200 shot on my Walbro pump and upgraded wiring harness because there were so many different opinions on this site. I decided to go for it anyway, added a 50/50 split of race gas and 94 octane, pulled 8 degrees of timing via a Timing Tuner and brought a couple of full nitrous tanks. The air was cool at about 60 degrees so I knew if I was ever going to get there it had to be now. The first 5 rounds were all in the 11.20 range and I thought no go. I switched to a new bottle and I knew as soon as I launched it felt like it was pulling like never before. I have to say when I got my time slip and saw that 10.96 I was jumping up and down! Just wanted to tell some guys that would understand.

P.S. Apparantly my Walbro Pump and upgraded harness had no problems with the 200 shot....no issues with A/F or fuel pressure all night.

That is awesome! Nothing like hitting you numbers or winning a race you really want! All you want to do is park jump out and scream!!! Awesome numbers!

What is your time off the bottle? Most curious if you have a time with a N/A and a 100 hp shot but any info will help. I have a thread maybe it would help more people with my questin if you posted your comparison over there. THanks

Sorry as soon as I submited my reply I saw your sig.

Congrats on your pass, Not try to be rude, but with the mods in your Sig. should'nt that car be running in the 10s easyly on motor? Sounds like a heck of a motor. 1 of my 2 camaros (street car) is a H/C car that runs 10.2 on 150shot. again not trying to be rude just curious.

Default Thanks for the feedback guys!

The details of the run are as follows: 60 ft 1.78, 1/8 = 7.15 @ 101.62, 1/4 = 10.96 @ 129.74. M/T Drag radials set at 18 llbs. QA1s set at "0" on the front and "3" on RR and "2" on LR. Normally I run 4 and 3 on the rear but set softer on the 10.96 run because the track was so slippery. Not sure of elevation - it states 330ft on the web site. Runs took place a small local track in Napanee, Ontario called Shannonville. Track prep is normally minimal so hooking is always a bit of a problem. My car weights 3900 llbs with me in it so it's definately not a lightweight. The rest of the mods are in my signature. If anyone has any suggestions for me to try I'd appreciate it.

i'm not sure if you can go quicker with those 60s and not so great track prep, but perhaps you can get a little more out of the car with a tailored tune for your conditions. obviously, better et would be yours if you ran it at well prepped track.

Your car should run low 11's on motor. What is the DA where you run?

The weight and a relatively small cam is why the car runs what it does. Heavy cars take a bunch of power to move. My car also weighs 3900lbs with me in it. Mine makes 495rwhp on motor and runs 11.20's at 123mph with a 1.7 60ft in 1250ft DA. Congrats on your 10 second pass man!!!!!!

Congrats on your 10 sec. pass bro!! But your times do seem to be off a little for all the mods you have. I have alot less mods and run times in sig. with same 200 shot.

Congrates on the new best..

Looking at mod list I would aggree that there may be better times and power in the car with what you have. However there are alot of factors that play key. First factor is weight. Traction, power and tune. What is your airfuel on motor and what is it on nitrous?
Deffintly need to get that 60 ft time down.
What kind of power are you making off the bottle and on the bottle?

Yes cars do run differently at different altitudes.

Congrats on that 10.9x pass. Get those short times down and your ET will improve greatly. Don't be disheartened by the dudes that think your times are slow. Until they run their posted numbers at your track,it's like comparing apples to oranges.

Default Back to the Track Tonight!

Thanks for the feedback guys. Since I'm pretty new to the Drag Racing game making a total of only 20-25 runs I have lots to learn. I had the car tuned when the LS402 swap was made by W2Ws Tuner. A/F naturally aspirated was 12.5:1 at WOT. Subsequently, however, I had to gut the High Flow Cats which had collapsed internally and the A/F went rich at 12.2-12.3:1. I'm replacing the High Flow Cats (Dynatech) which should lean the A/F back out. I did a quick road test on the gutted Cats when I changed to the 200 Shot and registered a 11.7:1 A/F at WOT on a brief run. I have a Progressive VGuage and Wide-Band which shows A/F, % Nitrous, Nitrous Pressure, etc. I have to be honest the display on the guage is small and I'm normally so busy concentrating on everything I need to focus on to get down the track I always forget to check the A/F going down the track! All I know is the cut-off is set at 10.5 rich and 12.5 lean and it's not kicking out. Tonight I'm going to focus on getting some A/F and Nitrous Pressure info going down the track. I'm really seeing the advantages of hooking up a logger to my Wide Band! The other issue I am seeing is it's a pain to rely on bottle heaters especially if you go through more than one bottle. The Nano system sounds like it eliminates the need for the heater and gives more consistent A/F on a given setting. We have access to high pressure air here so I'll likely upgrade this winter and put the car on a diet as well! I'll repost results from tonight. Thanks again guys.

definitely get afr logged and, i can guarantte your car will run even better with the nano, no question about it. you did not mention what timing you are running on the shot, with the nano you will need to be even more accurate with the timing due to the fact that the shot is more dense all the way down the track. especially in 4th with a stick where there is a bit more load than the other gears for a longer time, i'm not sure if it's the same with a4s. if you can get away with catless set-up, do it. with the n20 the engine has more back pressure to deal with and it may not be great for the exhaust valves, leaving the cat off will greatly improve your performance and help keep the exhaust valves cool. finally make sure you take 2 deg. out for every 50hp of n20 that you add. my car also weighs 3900lbs, but i was able to get it out of the hole with 150w sprayed with no progression from 4krpm to 6.9krpm netting me a 1.5 60 , not sure if it's a good idea for the a4. maybe someone else will chime in on that subject. good luck either way.
