Default How much difference does bottle pressure make?

Just curious, since Im still new to nitrous. I have my kit installed but wont be able to order a bottle heater till next week. So right now my bottle stays at 600psi, and I was told to keep it around 1050psi.

So does that make a big difference? I have a 100 shot jetted right now, would that still make it an actual 100rwhp shot or slightly different?

The best advice i can give you is to get it to around 1100 psi, go spray it and you be the judge. I guarantee you will see a significant difference.

I wouldn't even use the system without having the correct bottle pressure or close to it. A bottle heater or Nano system is almost mandatory for a safe nitrous system. How else are you going to make sure your nitrous tune is even close to what it should be?

I know I just wanted to test the kit once I had it installed. I won't spray it again till I get my bottle heater. BTW, I just ordered one tonight cause I couldn't wait!! Lol

oh and I'm using my interface and microedge to basically be my tuner

damn I want my bottle pressure up!!

how cold is it in Cali, 600 seems low if the bottle is full even if its not 90 degrees out. I would think it would still be around 750 as long as it wasnt freezing out.

You wont even belive the difference! Get a bottle heater or better yet go with the nano system. I am going with the nano system. Bottle pressure is so important.

Well this whole kit alone got alot of my savings so the nano might have to wait for a while.

Right now it's cold here in Cali. Mid 50's during the day and low 30's at night. It gets cold in the garage too! But yeah pressure is at 600psi with it basically full

hink a bottle heater would be just fine and one can be had used for about $100. I see a few swearing by NANO kits and claim it is the "only" real way to have a safe kit but as of 6 months ago nobody knew much. I to am putting a second "budget" kit together and trying out the NANO would be great but will have to wait. Tino- Just find a used bottle heater or give one of our sponsors a call. I got one from Dynotune that had a flaw in the writing on the blanket at a great price last time I was on the bottle might want to contact Dean or Dan on that one if money is a bit tight. Also the bottle pressure is essential. 600 compared to 1100 is like comparing 80 octane to 110 octane. HAHA Good job on the self install.

Low bottle pressure=run rich So you should be safe. But, I just got tired of cool days trying to heat to the bottles. I want the tune to be spot on and more consistant. No matter if you have a full bottle and its warm out the bottle psi will drop off on a pass down the track. Just my expierance thats all.

This is a bit of an advanced read, but definitely something you can learn from. Our kits are jetted for 950 psi, so i recommend using that. If you look at the temp vs PSI chart, you will see that 50 degrees will translate to a bottle pressure of 600psi. If your that desperate to run the kit, give it a bath of hot water. It will jump the pressure up real quick.

As for what is the best bottle PSI to go with, ill just let this thread speak for itself. Its from a different site with MANY serious racers and guys with a massive amount of experience. I'm sure you'll get the idea

I'm really surprised that nobody jumped all over your rich being safe statement. I'm no expert, but you should probably do a little research on the ill effects of what can happen when running to rich. That was why I replied in the first place, to make sure the OP was at least in the ballpark with his nitrous tune.

^^^ yeah I know its not good to even run rich. I just did a 2nd & 3rd gear pull just to see if the system works. I haven't even activated it again since then. I have the bottle heater on the way and changed the plugs to tr-6's gapped around .032.
Next paycheck I'll be looking to get a A/F gauge to hook up to the microedge so I can monitor it all.

It's amazing all the brain surgeons on here.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The charts will look a little different with NANO because you will have 1050psi if the bottle is inbetween 40-80 degrees. With NANO we can calculate how many runs per bottle because all of the nitrous in the bottle is usable. The NANO system will force nitrous more dense at higher temperatures because no heat is needed. Above 85 degrees nitrous will take over from the heat causing the pressure to go up.

With a heated system the more nitrous you use the less dense the nitrous is. The charts are based off of a full nitrous bottle. The reason is because the more nitrous you use, the more room in the bottle for the nitrous to turn to vapor form. Less nitrous=heating more to get up to pressure.

This is what I was trying to say.
