Has the enrichment rate been adjusted under the power enrichment table in the tune? It's not going to solve your problem but will help get the mixture to the commanded afr faster by raising the number. Stock is 1.00 I believe, we set mine to 4.00 and it helped out quite a bit to compensate for the lean spike.

that is for a solenoid that won't seal (stuck open). they were suggesting to force the piston to re-seat itself, you could hit it with a hammer.
how long does the lean condition last?
now don't you wish you had gone the turbo route again? you wouldn't be messing with finicky solenoids.
