i had a nitrous backfire with a nozzle setup sprayin 150hp. i made several high ten sec passes and played on the street for several months with this set up before it blew the back of the intake out on the street. i thought maybe fuel puddled causing this so i sold off the whole kit and went with a plate kit from daves, and also changed the plugs. still not sure what made it backfire but i did have a bad o2 that wasnt throwing a code. found that out just playing around with a new code reader i got that has a graph. hoping that was the culprit due to running lean on bank 2. now the car occasionally throws 0300 random missfire code. never seen this code before and i keep the code reader hooked up all the time. it has allways surged a little at low cruising rpm's but it never really misses and revs flawlessly to 6800. im guessing the code is due to the new spark plug design -br7ef. i had the old tr6's gapped at .035 as well. double checked the wire connections. so in essence all i changed was the plugs and the distance between maf and tb due to plate. my fear is another nitrous backfire due to a real missfire. im ready to spray and retune but dont want to blow the intake again. any input from you veterans would be greatly appreciated. ls1/ls6 heads/ls6 intake(brand freakin new)tr 224/fulllengths.

can you go into a little more detail on the big day. when i blew up. How many time did you spray, how close to each other. What rpm was it set to spray on, Stock heat range on plugs? bottle heater and gauge or no. so on.

i was taking a friend for a ride and sprayed it twice for about three sec. like ive done a hundred times without problem. then pop a sec in to the fourth time. tr6 at .035,always 900-1000 bottle psi. 3500 rpm. wot. it had been surging a bit more than usual due to the o2 sensor i guess??????? it ran alot smoother after i changed it. i feel that along with the poss. fuel puddling was the cause but dont want to overlook anything. any ideas on why it popped and why i get the 0300 now?

I don't know why it popped, but I do know that tr6's are a no no on a 150shot. Im running br7fe... atleast I think that's how you spell it, but I heard that's the one you want to run with that big of a shot.

Are u auto or stick? I had the same thing happen to me not to long ago aswell; fixed the intake, replaced the plugs, made a couple of test runs and all was good.
06blackGTO, do u have any experience with TR6's or did u hear that they are a no-no as well?

I think the plugs have more to do with the rest of his setup. Im bone stock apart from a lid, full exhaust and frost mail order tune. I have tr6's and have put close to 20 bottles through my car in the last year all on 150 jets through a harris plate, I havent had a single problem.

TR6 is a projected tip plug, not a good choice for nitrous use.
Do a search for projected vs. nonprojected plugs.

well ive been sprayin the sh it out of it and it freakin flys now!! props to the plate frome daves. it hits hard as **** and no problems thus far. i even stepped up to 200 hp pills and it is in low 10 sec territory. no traction till 100mph on street tires. i think the plugs is why it backfired as well but not sure. i do know im going to the track this weekend to break some ****!!! thanke for the responses and thank you daves nitro outlet.
