I might have to switch my kit to a different car lol
I've had this kit on my car since ~2005 and haven't been able to USE it yet...
Always fighting with the trans not shifting when I tell it.
Last night at the test-n-tune I fried my PCM flashing a tweaked tune-up.
At this rate I'm gonna have to re-certify the tank for it's first nitrous pass lol
Screw it, I'm gonna do a TH400 RMVB, why worry about overdrive when I'm only putting 2-3 tanks of gas in it a year as it sits now. I WANNA SPRAY IT!
Maybe I should just throw the system on my Traverse lol
On a positive note, going wheels up on motor again sure felt good while it lasted

That would be the best thing you can do. 4ljunkie, once you hit the 500 rwhp # are pretty much a failure waiting to happen. They're junk, and just can't take it.
Th400 in the car, and watch how much more fun you have with it. And if you're putting 3 tanks of fuel in it a year, now you can spray it good, and just run race fuel. Worst case, you'll have to put 4 tanks, maybe 4 and a half in it a year. At that rate of comsumption, who cares if the gas is 3.50 or 8.50 a gallon. You're not burning that much either way

They could probably handle it, but I'm just tired of screwing with it. When I bought it, Chuck at FLP told me at 700rwhp, it'd probably need to be refreshed at the end of every season to stay reliable. I shoulda just switched then.
It holds great off the line (1.5x 60' times aren't hard with it, I'm sure it could handle more), but for some reason, the only way I could get above 5k rpms was to leave it in individual gears. It'd just shift on it's own. At 75 mph, it'd go into 4th and the TCC would lock up. I have it completely disabled in the tune....I think it's the PCM telling it to do something else myself. Could do a TCI computer but....
To hell with it, I'll get the PCM and just enjoy the car until I can get all the stuff around for the 400 turbo.

1998 F-bod PCM's suck in the first place, the resolution is worse, they don't have tables for 4L80 trannie's and such, and they tend to fry easier. I think I fried this one constantly tweaking the trans tables trying to get it to run...
If I were to do a 4L80, I'd have to also buy the transmission controller, adding insult to injury.

Holy damn ATV, that's tempting.
I'm gonna check with a trans shop friend of mine tomorrow about the buildup cost of a 4L80, but I'll think real hard about that. It's still gnawing at the back of my mind. I could handle losing the lockup or the od, but both sux. My wife always talks about going on the Hot Rod Power Tour, and if we ever do, I think having OD to work with would be great.

Anyone that has built a car that makes power and actually puts a beat down on it from time to time has payed there dues to know that no matter how good the tranny builder is and no matter what they say the overdrive 4l60 units do not last.
Took me alot of money and alot of wasted time to relize that. Back when I had the speed shop we had customers try just about every company and they make it about a year and crap out.
If its a street car throw a built 6 speed in it and keep it fun. If its a street/strip car turbo 400 is the way to go..

If you are going to spray it you dont need a ton of gear and you will want a 28" tire.
Put some 3.55's or 3.73's in it and it will criuse just fine trust me.
We just took it out my buddy's car doesnt have many miles or passes on it, its in perfect cond.
I have not put it in the classified section yet so let me know.

Hey ATV, that sounds like a great deal with the converter included, but at the moment, I'm not gonna have that much to work with. I just finished a house remodel and got a new vehicle a few months ago so I can't make it happen. I know it'll go like wildfire in the classifieds section though, good luck.
I'm thinking just to get me by for the summer and to troubleshoot if it's the trans or the PCM, I might get this to run the tranny. It's the same cost as the TCI trans controller + harness, and later this year when I get the money, I can use it on a 4L60, 4L80, or sell it.
