im shooting for 10s with my bolt ons car and a 150 shot and even with a stock converter... last time out i had some issues at the 1000ft on my last run... but my last run was my fastest... i went 11.58 @ 112. my runs before that i was trapping 120. I lowered the activation rpm some and picked up 5 mph in the 1/8th mile on my last run and 6 tenths... so im betting if it didnt have its issue at the 1000ft mark it woulda went high 10s.

damn
I was thinking of trying something like that with the car I'm picking up friday (99 firebird)
I'm pulling the motor over the winter anyway (complete replacement) For an upcoming turbo build
anyway, will be running a built th400 and a 9" in the next few weeks, I wouldn't mine spraying the crap out of the stock motor to see where I can get the car to before the build.
would be on a 26x9.5 hoosier qtp.

Stock 6.0 down to the cam and the heads out of escalade in a 98 SS. Ran 6.0's all day long on radials weighing in about 3200 with driver. Made 630 on the jug. Sold the motor to another person and is still chuggin.

So no one knows what the quickest/fastest is? I think I could do a 10.40ish or better.... I went 11.20 before, and could make some pretty big changes to get that down a bit.

The record used to be held by Dave Purlee for a long time, 10.5x with a stock LS1 longblock and one shot... He used to post 7-8 years ago as Silver LS1!.
The record with heads and cam has to be in the 9.7's or better range.

i went 6.5s in the 8th (around 10.2s)stock 6.0ltr. in my 55 chevy with 26x8.5 slicks. its about the same weight as an fbody. ive since up'd the n2o and did a cam swap and 28x9 slicks and ran 6.2s. car has headers, 2.5 dual exhaust, 3.42 gears.
going to larger tires helped. im sure i couldve ran 6.4s with just the tire swap.

Never said it would be easy but it seems like everyday people are going faster and faster and making bigger and bigger numbers with stock parts. The time will come when it will happen.

i think if i did some tuning with my car and put the right converter and headers on it and spent some time with it i think 9.1 or so would be pretty easy to get out of it. i threw a bone yard motor in the car with all my old parts, a converter set up for my 1,000 hp race motor and power glide, 5 year old tires, and left over parts.
if i spent some real time and spent some coin having the converter redone i think i would be running much faster. but i wont be doing that, so who knows. lol
