please help..

Default please help..

i just installed a HSW single nozzle wet kit on my LQ4 in my 99 sonoma.
i also JUST started messing around with HP tiners on the truck, first of all the motor has stock injectors, and HP Tuners tells me theyre running at 96% duty cycle... is this going to be a problem for spraying it? i would assume since its got a seperate fuel line/selenoid its should supplent the extra fuel that way.....?

also i have gotten to the timing tables etc, but i am a little confused as to where my timing needs to be or what the table should look like..
ive read pulling out 6-7* is okay, but i assume thats from stock... and my truck had a "tune" done to it when i first did the swap and i have no idea how aggressive it is....
id like to spray a 150 shot this coming saturday...
p.s. i bought some ngk tr7's for it. and i have a 255lph fuel pump in tank...

Post your tune and a copy of your logs... Is the motor stock? I can't believe it'd be almost maxing the injector if it is.

here is a log file from a quick trip around the block.

I think it shows the injectors getting up to 97% duty cycle. Also we are seeing some knock retard when just driving normally.

I'll look at those when I get a chance. Is the motor completely stock? What injectors? Something's jacked if you are getting KR and a 96% IDC on a bone stock motor...

it is mostly stock, has 1 5/8" shorty headers, "off road" 2 1/2" y pipe, into 3 1/2" single exhaust with straight thru magnaflow, "cold air intake" and the tune which im beginning to think is a little more agressive than i thought. it was done at current performance wiring...

the truck weighs 3700 with me in it, and it trapped 105.86 mph with stock torque converter and stock 3.42's, this was crossing the line at something like 4800rpms... the performance calculator i used said its making 343 rwhp... which i would assume thru a 4L80E is 400-410hp at the crank...

yes the injectors are stock, i use a 255lph fuel pump and aeromotive regulator, set to 60psi

if the injectors are truly that high you wont be able to spray it cause it will lean out.

thats what i thought... how would i find out if that % is accurate?
is that all the stock injectors support? about 400-410 crank hp?

The only way I know is to use the software to check it. Every generation of LS motor has a different injector flow rate and fuel psi. Your current power level may be all yours support. Just get some bigger injectors and adjust your tune. Your gonna want more injector to spray anyway.

i dont have my LM-1 wideband on it yet, i planned on using it once i sprayed it...

the motor is a 2004, stock injectors. (LQ4)

looks like nitrous is outta the question for now, i was only gonna spray it a few times before the end of the year, as over the winter i plan on doing my mid/rear mount TC-78 turbo build, and will be using 80lb/hr injectors...

The only things I can think to get you to the track would be to find some good used higher flowing stock injectors. The other thing would be to go back to a stock tune pull 6 degrees and watch the injector duty and KR.

Or maybe a combination of both?

if you are spraying a wet kit, this will not effect your injector duty so you will be fine there, but it will require your fuel pump to produce more fuel so you may need to address that and make sure it is up to the challenge.

FALSE! only true for a dry kit, wet kit doesnt have anything to do with the injectors

I agree a wet kit shouldn't mess with idc, but I wouldn't want to push the cars fuel system with it being almost out of injector/pump.

the truck has a 255lph pump in it so should i go for it? this is the last time ill be able to race it this year...
also the last before i turbo it...
(what the hell its just a set of new pistons if it doesnt work out....)

took 6 degrees out of the current tune, put the ngk tr7s in it, and wired in my innovate lm1 wideband, pulls quite strong for a 75 shot. will be spraying 100 and 150 tomorrow. will post results.

p.s. afr is 14.4ish cruising light throttle and 12.5:1 wide open...
