hey guys, i have a 99 ls1 with a H/C combo making 440rwhp/407rwtq. i have a nitrous express wet kit waiting to go on the car but am nervous to use it because my motor has 110k on the bottom end and already has 23-25% compression loss across all cylinders. i had a leak down test done before i did the heads and cam. but the car runs like a raped ape! whats the safest way to spray without destroying my bottom end and how much is too much? any input is appreciated. im new to the nitrous world. thanks guys.

I hope you've upgraded your fuel system. Spraying on top of your head and cam modifications will spell disaster. I have read that 500 to 525 is what is considered "safe" on your bottom end. Your car will not have the fueling it needs for nitrous on top of your 440hp.

i have upgraded the fuel injectors to 60lb mototrons but i still have the stock fuel pump in the tank. i planned on putting a walboro 255 in. would using a timing retard device and progressive controller be the way to go for a 75 shot?

First things first, you said you had the leakdown test done BEFORE the head install. Have you had it done after(or was it found to be the rings??)
Reguardless, in my experience until you have catastrophic issues, power does not usually suffer too bad in most cases. Obviously compression=power, but I have never seen a huge power loss until **** was really broke.
As for your engines mileage, I say go for it. If its hurt to the point that nitrous will finish it off, it was coming sooner or later anyway. Let that bitch eat

up grade the intake pump to a 255lph first if you are going to supply the fuel off the rail. If you are running a stand alone you are good to go. I ran a progressive dry style kit, on top of my cam only then H/C setup, for 7+ years and finally had a ring land fail at 120k miles. N/A was 435/400, N20 was 565/585 on a 125shot. I give all the credit to my tuner for the 7yrs of reliability and hundreds of pounds of nitrous the motor ate.
Make sure your tuner has a lot of experience with tuning N20! The tuner will make or break you.

yeah.... you definitely need to do something with your fuel system. If you aren't planning on going to bigger and better things then you can do a stand alone as mentioned before, it not only avoids lean spike issues but it looks killer!
If on the other hand you plan on building to bigger and better things then you might as well upgrade the factory fuel system and go overkill for future builds.
If we can help you with any questions or tech advice let me know!
