here are my plugs after 200 shots
Hi guys
i went logging a 200 shot´s last night mods are in sign.
i run 92mm plate kit from nitrous outlet and a standalone fuel cell high pressure (50-60psi) i only have the 50-100-150-200 jets
this is on a 93 oct pump gas btw. i´m going to the king of the street RACE (dot tires and pump gas)
I use HPT for tuning and logging and NGK wideband installed after the X pipe and i pulled the plugs after the WOT and YES i stopped the engine right away.
i´m used to log WOT in 3rd gear, but it´s not possible on the 200 shot it ribbs my new tires off when the nos kicks in at 3500 rpm, so i used long 4th gear, and man it´s long i´m still on the 3.42 gears and a 27" tall tires
i ran 8´s plugs gapped .035
started whith 14°timing and jets N78 F 46
At first whith 52psi fuel pressure it was dead rich 9.5-10.7
i slowly decreased the pressure on the cell first to 45psi and it was still rich 10.2-11.1 so i went down to 40psi (the savety switch is at 35psi) and still too rich 10.8-11.4 i noticed it is leanest on the lower rpms and when it rices it goes richer and is richest on the highest rpm 6100-6300
so i changed to new bottle and tried it again, and it was the same , so i installed the 38F (from the 150shot F) jet and bumped the pressure up to 50 psi again.
i bumbed the timing to 16° too
Still rich so i decreased the pressure to 45psi and there i stopped for now.
AFR i saw from 3600 rpm 12.4 leanest and then after it got on higher rpm it got richer it ended in the low 11´s around 6000 rpm so i tooke the plug out after and here is the result (sorry the camera here at work is a crap)
i´ve been studying this plug reading alot here on the forum, This is too rich right ??
but timing is ok ?
Should i lower the pressure a little bit, or maby put the 35F in and see what it does.
thanks

I went through the same thing in the Camaro with a NO plate kit and a dedicated fuel cell. I started with the 78N 46F too with the pressure set at 58PSI but it was pig rich. I bought some smaller jets and kept at it. I would lower the PSI in the dedicated until I reached 35 PSI then I would lower the jet and put the PSI back up to 58 and start over. I ended up with a 33F jet with the dedicated at 58 PSI. That got me a 11.8 A/F from 3000 to 6800 rpm and good looking plugs.
I am sure someone here can tell you about your plugs but they will probably want some better pics to be able to see the ring and timing mark better.

The plugs are reading what the wideband is telling you. Still rich.
I would go to 50psi and put in the 35F jet in. The timing is good, but I would pull another degree out since we are still working on leaning it out more. More than anything just to be extra safe.
So I would make another pull with:
15* timing
78N/35F at 50psi
BTW, your doing a great job so far. This thing will be dialed in and rolling out they way you are going.

thanks a lot
i´ll try that.
few questions
1. is it smart to log it in 4th gear pulls under that much load, or should i try log it on slick in lower gears to get better readings.
2. when i see the AFR go lower whith higher rpms is that normal ?? ,
the NA AFR is very steady in my car 12.7-12.9 threw the hole band
3. should i ramp the timing up whith the rpm
like for example NA i am at 26 in mid range and 28 after 6000 ramped up and i go fastest like that , should i have the same ramp in NOS tune
4.In race NA i shift 6100-6300, it´s peaking 5900-6000 should i shift earlyer on NOS like 5900-6000 and use the TQ better, some old school guys here was telling me so....

2. A little yes. That is the pressure dropping as the nitrous sprays. This can be worse with a higher pressure and a less filled bottle. Doing 900psi as a starting point and keeping the bottles filled will really help that drop.
3. I would leave it flat on nitrous. Some of that will be preference, but I prefer to take out any variables.
4. Stick that Zoh on the track and find out! Every car will react a little different. I have seen shifting a little earlier help cars get down the track.

1. You want as much load on the motor as your going to have racing. If you are doing roll racing, then we want to make a long pull. The reason for this is if you dial in the timing mark with less load than the motor sees, it will appear more conservative than it actually is. Load is added heat to the motor so the timing mark will move accordingly.

Its not easy to jet a system when motor tunes vary from 12.4-13.2 by themselves. Also they have to be safe for someone who is just going to put in the recommended jets and roll with them. They are rich no doubt but as far as just putting a jet card in a system there is not a choice but to be.

The timing needs to be in the ball park while you get the fuel leaned out or you will hurt it.... as you lean it out it will show more timing thats why I suggested going to colder plug and or pulling more timing out.
A rich tune will mask to much timing.... then when you lean it out ... spark plugs tips wind up missing.
