Thanks Carter01!

I think I am starting to get this......the colour I'm looking for is light tan and starts at the bottom of the cone shaped part of the porcelan. You look for a tan ring about 1/8 inch high.

So...

On my 88/42 run, if that was a 1/4 mile run, my timing looked good (timing line in the middle of the strap) and the fuel ring was a dark tan covering nearly the whole of the porcelan signifying the way rich condition.

On my 88/46 run, if that was a 1/4 mile run, my timing would be on the edge (timing line at the bend) and my fuel was a light tan covering half the porcelan signifying the still too rich condition.

I'm pretty confident that when I check my plugs on the 88/44 (with 55 llbs in dedicated) and 14-15 degrees of timing it should be pretty close.

Thanks alot for your help!

IMO, 18* of timing with an 88n jet (350 shot) is too much.

Its rich and over timed, it being rich is masking it being over timed.

Carter has 15* of timing in his with a 78n jet (250 shot).

You need to step back on the jetting and figure out the tune or your going to hurt something. 300+ is where it starts to get easy to hurt parts if the tune is not real close.

12.6 A/F is not lean.
If there is no way to check the tune I wouldnt run the car with that much N20 on it.... unless you have a spare motor you want to try.

Default OK so I havn't figured it out yet!

Spoke to Graham at Nitrous Outlet and after looking at my plugs from post#19 he thinks I should go back to pulling 13 degrees from base (28 base at WOT -13 = 15 degrees of timing) and then work on leaning out the A/F to target of 11.7-11.8. I'll start with 88 N20 and 42 Fuel (250 Shot) at 58 llbs. Then by reading the plugs we can get a baseline on where to go from there. So I'll try that this weekend.....

Thanks as always to Graham and the guys at Nitrous Outlet for always being willing to help out!

I do appreciate your feedback as you are obviously very experienced at this! My confusion is around your comments that an 88 N20 jet is way over 250 HP - up to 350 HP. On the 92mm Nitrous Outlet Plate the jetting called for on a 250 RWHP shot is the 88 jet. They quote their HP/jetting levels in RWHP. I'm wondering if that is the difference between your estimated numbers and theirs?

Seems everyone is in agreement that I am overtimed and rich so I will pull timing and lean it out by reading plugs...Thanks for your feedback and patience with us less experienced guys...

If ran and clicked off, Pig rich as they would say, also as you start leaning on it the mark will move even closer to the bend. I would say pull an extra 6* or so and start trying to clean/even up the cylinders and slowly add 1* of timing back in until you slow down, then take 2* out. But this needs to be done at a track and not on a dyno.

can you or someone else tell me what the yellowish color (like in the 1st and 3rd pic...mainly the FIRST one) means??

i just went to a 150 shot from a 100 shot and i pulled the plugs and one of them had the exact same yellowish color on the tip of the strap. NOT like the second pic where its speckly and dotted. but just like the first pic except it was on the tip.

thanks!!

That's the cadmium burning off of the tip of the plug.
