Default Controller Purchase Questions.

Getting ready to buy a controller for my system that I will eventually be putting on my 99 Vette. The car for this year will just be bolt-ons. (Headers, LS6 intake, 1.85 Crane rockers, Vararam, 3500 stall TCI converter.) Once I am happy with how the car is running without N20, I will start messing with the nitrous. I have a HSW plate, with a 3000lb Nano system.

I am looking at the FJO and the NOS mini 15974. (Really like the 15977 or NX Maximizer but that seems like overkill) My question (for now) is do I really need a first gear lock out, or would progressive with a delay be okay?

I plan on spraying mostly at the track. But if I understand this correctly, if I do run from a roll on the street and have a first gear lockout, it's RPM based so no matter what gear I'm in the nitrous won't kick on until I run the RPM cycle once correct?

Also on the FJO after reading through the instructions it looks like for setting WOT on a drive by wire (like my car) you need to be looking at the LED's on the unit. Can this be done without the car running? The reason I am asking is I want to mount the unit in the battery box area of the car, under the hood and if I have to set it up while making a run I obviously won't be able to see the lights inside the car.

Thanks for any help you can give me, I'm sure I'll have more questions later.

I like the Microedge, but I've read bad things about their customer service on here.

I planned on getting the microedge. The site still says they have them but my order was canceled because they were out of stock.

I'm pretty sure I won't be able to get it for the sale price I origionally ordered it for either :\

Ok since I'm not getting many replies, I'll try wording this another way. Would I be better off to have a first gear lock out or a delayed start (say after 60 ft) and then go progressive?

I'm going with a lockout or arm it when I shift to second. But only planning a 150 shot. Progressive seems a little overkill and more expensive for me. What shot are you running?

Not running anything yet. Have everything but a controller, that's why I asked. I am planning on a 150 shot through a HSW plate. I was thinking with a progressive I could start spraying in first gear after the car launched. But I like your thinking. I would be out of 1st so fast it might not be worth it.

I wouldn't even waste my time if I couldn't spray a 150 out of the whole. If you have to run a delay or progressive with that small a shot I would work on suspension first before nitrous. The 1st gear lockout is mainly for 6 speed cars who alot of times have a very short first gear, although it may work on yourt auto if you get enough rpm drop between shifts.

Agree with minytrker. Only time a progressive should be used is either with multiple stages or if ur running a real big shot anywhere from 250 and up. It also helps u if running rafials but with a 150 shot u still shouldnt have traction problems wijth the right suspension setup

Thanks, that's the kind of info I was looking for. The suspension on my 99 is stock, but I will be running drag radials when I take it to the track.
