I was told that when i spray dry shot i would be clogging up the holes on my screen before the maf and thought should i descreen it running nitrous or not. I have the nozzle fairly close to the screen about maybe 2-3 inches from the screen and figured it would probably clog up the wholes and not hit the maf fully if thats the case. Not sure, this is all up in the air. Just want to see what everyones opinion is. This is a pic of were the placement is:

well i moved the nozzle further back, now i got it a few inches back so when it sprays it fogs up but i need to make sure the orientation is just right because its not hitting hard at all. I think i need it to go on both sides of the lid so it fogs up more because right now i just have one on the passenger side and some kits ive seen have one on each side of the lid, dry system.

lol i got one vote to keep it and one to lose it. Well i tried the new location were i mounted the nozzle although it doesnt hit strong atleast its consistant and fogs up before it goes through the maf.

 

ive been doing alot of research on it and for the most part its wise to descreen it when you run a dry system. im going to descreen it tomorow for sure, are there any pictures or write ups on how to descreen it, is it simple just push it out and pops off?

 

Mine is out. 75% of people I know just take them out anyways. I'm hooking up the wet plate kit this summer but none the less I would generally say most people take the screens out who are doing work on the cars.

 

ya yesterday the guy who sold me the nitrous system dynotune, Dean told me i should descreen it as well. Super cool guy, he was the deciding factor in the end lots of people were telling me to do it and then he as well told me i should descreen. What do you do you push the screen away from the maf just making sure you dont touch or hit the wires and it might pop out and if it doesnt yank it out with something.

 

keep the screen..its designed to smooth out airflow as it passes the wires, allowing your MAF to be more accurate.

Just learn proper nozzle placement...
further away from the MAF to allow proper atomization of fuel and nitrous, and aimed correctly...
if its a straight nozzle, then you are blowing it sideways into a wall and it needs to be re-aimed... or make sure the nozzle has a 90* tip and that the opening in the tip is facing the MAF.

its a straight nozzle no angle on the tip, i have it facing towards the MAF but a tad upward just in case. I should take a pic of it but its almost at the middle of the lid on the passenger side of it.

 

I think descreening the MAF is a terrible idea.

 

I think this is one part wether its performance or not really comes down to the person is so split. Some will say do it, i had no issues and some will say no way dont even think about it. In my case i dont know if it will benefit me or be better if i descreened it since im running a dry system. Not sure wether it will make a difference or not.

 

Ok i went ahead and descreened it, suprisingly came out easy with hardly any damage done to the screen. I even moved the nozzle a bit further in by ajusting a bolt and probably went in by a quarter of an inch extra, hopefully it'll help in my case with my luck maybe worse, lol.

 

Probably a good chance you're going to run leaner now.

 

i had frost tune me rich to begin with, i was running 12.4-12.5 a/f on motor, now im 12.7-12.8 and nitrous im at 11.8-12.0 which is about the same as before 125 shot. I did a few runs on the way home. Wanted to add as well it does hit harder on the initial after playing with the orientation of the nozzle and moving it further in.

 

I use the same Dyno Tune Dry kit and left my screen alone, the huge key is nozzle placement. Mine is set as far back as possible and the hit is perfect, one thing to keep in mind when you do not difuse the air coming in, when off the nitrous the maf does not read as well . Though yes I have watched my screen get a little frost bitten when on the gas, Im not in it long enough to completely freeze the screen. Ive tried both with the screen and without on a chassis dyno and the tune numbers are virtually the same.
