Congrats man on the new times. How much timing did you have in it when you ran the 9.36?

Well we took the car out last night with some improvement, still having issues though. The car went 10.98@120 on motor, the issue we have is the engine won't go over 6,200 it breaks up like crazy. We made wholesale changes on the car last night, big jet changes in the carb, timing changes, launch changes.. We doubled up on all the grounds, going right from the block to the frame to the battery ground. It's over 14 volts going down track. It does not feel or sound air/fuel related, or valvetrain related, this sounds and feels like a high speed ignition related misfire and I am just stumped.
We've been from 28-32 in timing, two different sets of plugs.. My only thoughts now are to tighten up plug cap, and switch out the coils?

Everything comes on at the hit on the big tire. On the street tire, I have 75 coming on first and then 200. Both progressed and they aren't both on til about 3 seconds into the run. I hope to have them all in by about 2 seconds next time out.

Didn't make the 5 second club tonight.

Track was ****, as it rained hard the past two days and pretty much rid the track of any rubber it had. On top of that every time I went to make a pass I was stuck behind a line of street cars on street radials and they were just destroying the groove.

I had two good passes. First and 2nd. The first pass 2 step at 3200, nitrous on at 4000 it left beautiful with the front tires in the air about 6" carried them under power 40', but when the tires touched down it spun. 1.55 60' on that pass, but a 6.50@109.

The next pass it left even better, but about the 40' mark again it started shaking the tires HARD. I had to let out short shift to 2nd and get back in it and with all that it still went 1.43 60' 4.18 330' 6.40@110.

Still on the same 62n 38f. I have some much better plug reading also with the BR7's. First pass no heat, used the same plugs 2nd pass got just enough for a timing mark and it was on the tip of the strap of just about every plug. Put them in one more pass and finally got some good heat to show, little heat bubbles on tip of the strap were the timing mark is.

I did mix in 110 with my 93 and I think I will continue to do so. Porcelain was white and clear at 12.0 afr.

When I get some energy back tomorrow I'll post up plug pics.

I think once I get this thing to hook it's going to be a good result. 110mph with a stock set of 241's and a cam that is totally wrong for nitrous on a 150 shot makes me pretty happy. The power is there, just have to get it put down.

I still haven't even started to mess with pulling timing on the hit or delaying the hit with the digiset.

My goal is to get it to leave on the full 150 shot with no timing pulled or delay, and then work my way up in Nitrous jet size and making it work on the launch.

Slow and steady.

CamsCam or anyone that can answer, if my timing mark is at the base of the strap kinda where the strap meets the treads of the plug, what does that mean? too much timing right?

if you are on the kit, then yes you have to much timing in it. Mine have usually run the best with heat right at the tip, and by tip i mean the other end, but as others have mentioned don't try and chase a mark, the motor wants what it wants. Cam and others will get you going in the right direction.

Thanks man. yes this is on a 62n and 34f and 23 degrees of timing. the porcelain is clean with a very slight tint of tan coloring.

Pull at least 3 degrees out of it.

If the timing mark is at the base of the strap that is way over timed.

As 10secZ28 said mine runs best with heat right on the tip. Don't chase the timing mark, get the fuel right and the timing will follow the heat in the chamber. Keep the timing safe and the AFR lean and it will fall into place itself.

thanks, we shall see what happens. its a 9.5 class and its been 2 years since i ran the car so i forget what tune up to run so i may get bumped fast. lol

and the last time i ran i had 4 or 5 year old tires so i put the wheelie bars on just in case. rather run the bars first time out then take the headers out. lol

i will keep everyone posted. i think 150 should do it pretty easy. we shall see
